House arrest for impaired driving causing death, bodily harm
A young Windsor man is under house arrest for convictions of impaired driving causing death and bodily harm. The charges resulted from an incident in Brooklyn in early 2007.

In Windsor provincial court Wednesday Sept. 17, Justice Gregory Warner imposed a two-year-less-a-day conditional sentence order (CSO) on Duane Jeffery Harvey, 22, for counts of driving while his blood alcohol levels exceeded the 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres limit and resulting in the death and bodily harm, respectively, of two other young men.

Harvey will serve the CSO in the form of house arrest, with the usual exceptions for employment, education, appointments and emergencies.

The justice also prohibited Harvey from driving in Canada for 10 years, a ban that will be at least matched by the Nova Scotia Registry of Motor Vehicles. He also ordered Harvey to provide a DNA sample to be kept on record.

Harvey committed the offenses March 31, 2007, and pleaded guilty to the charges last June 18.

I don't understand in this day and age while people think it's still OK to Drink & Drive..... And then get a slap on the wrist for killing someone as a result...

The poor families that suffer the lose of their loved ones. And the quilty go free.

The accused gets to go on with their live, an heaven forbid they can't drive for 10 years.... I'd say they should never drive again period....

Makes me sick how the court systems work. There is no justice anymore....
