Residents of Shelburne serviced by the town’s water system are being asked to boil their water until further notice.
The boil order went out Friday afternoon after a test results revealed elevated levels of coliform in an isolated line.
“Basically this is a precautionary thing,” said town spokesperson Mary Lee Gonzaga. “There’s no need for alarm.
Gonzaga said the boil order was put in place to “ensure everyone’s safety,” and will likely be lifted by Tuesday.
Gonzaga said what is needed to lift the boil are two clear tests. So far one test has come back within acceptable levels. Another sample was being tested Monday.
