Contests set to heat up in Annapolis County

Voters in five county districts have no need for elections on October 18. In all five cases, the respective incumbent has been elected by acclamation. The returning councilors are: Wayne Fowler, District 3; Patrick McWade, District 6; Peter A. Newton (current Council Warden), District 7; Reg Ritchie, District 8; and Ron Trimper, District 11. In general, their constituencies comprise the areas in and around:

-- Phinneys Cove-Port Lorne-Clarence-Upper Granville area,

-- Cornwallis-Upper Clements area,

--Tupperville-Paradise-West Dalhousie area,

-- Bear River-Graywood-Maitland Bridge area

-- Toorbrook area





District 4 will be hotly contested by five new candidates, as incumbent Herb Anderson has not re-offered for his seat (Granville Ferry-Belleisle-Perotte area).

District 9 (Nictaux area) is also guaranteed a new councillor, as incumbent Philip Milo will be face off with Martha Roberts for District 10 instead (Lawrenctown-Inglisville-Albany-Springfield area). District 10 Incumbent Peter Terauds has not re-offered.

Brian “Fuzzy” Connell will defend his District 2 seat against three challengers (Margaretsville-Brooklyn area).

Districts 1 & 5 Incumbents Marilyn Wilkins (Wilmot area) and Tom Vitiello (Youngs Cove-Victoria Beach-Port Royal area) both will face one challenger.
