September 7 to September 13, 2008 RAYNER, Milton - It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Milton Rayner (Beach Meadows) in Queens Manor, Liverpool. Milton was born in Manchester, England in 1926 and was the only child of John and Helena Rayner. He was the darling husband of Rosslyn and the beloved father of Marcus Julian and the dearly loved father-in-law of Debby Noble Rayner. His education was interrupted by war service in the Royal Air Force. He completed his education after the war and embarked upon a career in education; first in England and from 1963 with the British Overseas Aid in Uganda, East Africa and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Together with Rosslyn, Milton came to Canada in 1990 and thoroughly enjoyed his new home in Beach Meadows. He made many friends in the community through the Seaside Seniors. He spent his retirement restoring the house and creating a beautiful garden. He loved reading and studying a wide variety of subjects. He had completed two volumes of his personal memoirs. In his youth, he was a rock climber and loved to walk the Dales of Derbyshire and explore the English countryside. He was an artist and his great admiration for the people of Nova Scotia is reflected in his work. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. There will be no service at Milton’s request. A gathering of friends and neighbors will be held next summer to celebrate the life of this remarkable man. No flowers by request, donations may be made to Victorian Order of Nurses; Queens County Branch or S.H.A.I.D. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
