DOUCETTE, Marie Estelle “Stella” – 93, Amirault’s Hill, Yar. Co., passed away at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 2. Born May 13, 1915 in Amirault’s Hill, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Rose (Bourque) Moulaison. She was a retired school cafeteria cook, having worked for many years at the Amirault’s Hill School. Stella was known to be a very charitable person who made everyone feel welcome in her home, where music played a large role in her family life. She was well known for her pastry baking, especially her boiled-frost chocolate cake. She enjoyed cats and quilting, and was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was a loving mother to Dianne (Bill) Salterio, Halifax; Claire (Eddie) Theriault, Surette’s Island; Leland (Ella) Doucette, Sluice Point; and a loving grandmother to Philip Salterio, Halifax; Tom and Ted Megan, Ohio; Carrie-Anne (Davis) Kennerson, Lower Eel Brook; Colin (Graziella) Muise, Halifax; Chad Doucette, Yarmouth; Todd (Mireille) Doucette, Wedgeport; Heidi Doucette, Sluice Point; and 8 great-grandchildren whom she cherished – Sophia, Michael, Tori, Lucien, Matthew, Melanie, Phillip, and Katlyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Emilien Doucette; daughters Renette and Vivian, both in infancy; brothers, Dennis, Sylvester, Augustin, Melbourne, Stanley, Delbert, Armand, and Jules; sisters Lilian “Lulu” Cusick, Lillian and Jacqueline. Visitation took place on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with prayers at 8 pm, both at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held on Friday, September 5, at 10:30 am, at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Msgr. Gerald LeBlanc officiated. Interment followed in the Parish Cemetery. HENLEY, John S. - 89, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, September 2, 2008. Born in Chelsea, June 2, 1919, he was the son of the late John and Bernice (Joudrey) Henley. John’s life has always been busy with jobs such as driving his own gravel truck, his own taxi, driving bus for MacKenzie Bus lines, car salesman, selling travel trailers and even had his own mobile home business. His pride and joy over the years was always touring the country in his Volvo station wagon. He is survived by daughters: Darlene (Keith) Weagle of Brooklyn, Sylvia Bramfield of Dartmouth, Charlotte Henley-Bennett (Robert) of Middleton, Virginia (Robert) McNair of New Germany, Lynda (John) Metcalfe of Mandurah, Aus; son John (Karen) of Liverpool; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Olive (Fralic); Sisters Annie Ganter and Daisy Cooke and Brothers Irvin and Gerald. Funeral service was held Friday, September 5, 2008 in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Rev. David Hatt officiated. Burial was in Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn. WHYNOT, Roy Eugene - 60, of Brooklyn, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, September 2, 2008. Born in Liverpool, he was the son of the late Daniel Sr. and Daisy (Whynot) Whynot. Roy was a self employed trucker in his early years and was a former employee of STENPRO. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks and cooking as well as watching cooking shows. He loved feeding the squirrels and birds every day especially his pet squirrel “Chippy”. His favorite TV shows were Coronation Street and General Hospital. He also enjoyed camping, dancing, yard work, day trips, visiting family members and sitting on the deck with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Edna-Mae (Dagley); Step-daughters: Hope (Steven) Oickle of Brooklyn and Heidi (Troy) Winters of Halifax; several grandchildren; Sisters: Nancy Wamboldt of Milton, Linda (Tom) Lushman and Leanne (Kenneth) Oickle, both of Liverpool, Karen (Barry) Schrader of Bridgewater; Brothers: Raymond (Muriel) of Milton, Paul (Eileen) of Liverpool, Calvin (Phyllis) of Toronto, Terry (Judy Warrington) of Liverpool, Daniel Jr. (Lorna) of Western Head. He was predeceased by an infant Sister Jeanette and Brother Irving. Funeral service was held Thursday, September 4, 2008 in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Chaplain Donald Lawton officiated. William Blake Brady – A graveside committal service for the late William Blake Brady, of London, Ontario, was held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Kentville. William, who died on April 17, 2008, was the son of the late Isadore and Elizabeth (McFadden) Brady. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. DAHLGREN, John Kenneth - 74, Kingston, passed away at home with his family at his side on September 3, 2008. He was the son of the late Charles and Norma (Gidney) Dahlgren. John was born in Weymouth. He joined the Canadian army in 1951 and served with the Special Forces in the Korean War. He also served in Canada and Germany. After the military he worked for a number of years with Roscoe Construction and the last 23 years with Mid Valley Construction. His work was his passion. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Anna Dahlgren (Mullen), daughters, Joanne Hyduk (Kevin), Brampton, Ontario, Marlene Dahlgren, Mississauga, Ontario, Wanda Hatfield (Eric), Melvern Square, son, Charles Dahlgren (Peggy), Kingston, grandson, Robert (Gaby) Dahlgren, step-grandson, Charles Ashley and great granddaughter, Dominique; brothers, Donald “Twitty” (Joan) Dahlgren, Weymouth and Horado “Bucky” (Medora) Dahlgren, Church Point. He was predeceased by brother, Stanley; sister Adelaide and a brother in infancy. Visitation was held Friday, September 5, 2008 in the Middleton Funeral Home, with prayers at 7:00PM. MACINNES, Barbara Anne - 66, Middleton, Nova Scotia, passed away at home on September 4, 2008. Born in Halifax, she was the beloved daughter of the late Eileen (Dunlap) and Ralph Smith, Halifax, NS. She grew up in Halifax and attended Queen Elizabeth High School, Dalhousie University, and graduated in X-Ray from the Victoria General Hospital in 1962. After marrying, she lived in Kingston ON, Regina SK, Vancouver BC, and later settled in Middleton, NS. Her many happy years here have been shared by husband Ed, children Brenda (Michael) Diabo, Dartmouth and Dru (Cindy Evans) Mac Innes, Calgary, sister in law Marlene (Mac Innes) Mader, Halifax and cousins Rhodes (Mary Mac Arthur) Oulton, Montreal, Gwyn (Sandra Horley) Phillips, Kentville and Shirley Burke, Truro. Cremation has taken place and by Barb's request there will be no viewing, no service, and no flowers. However, donations in memory may be made to the Rosa M. Harvey Middleton & Area Library or charity of your choice. Internment to be held at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. FROST, Helen Mildred – 93, Yarmouth, NS, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2008 at home. Born September 27, 1914 in Yarmouth, NS, she was a daughter of the late Burton and Mary Roberts. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her sister, Hazel Nickerson, Yarmouth; daughter, Betty Surette (Amos), Yarmouth; grand-children, Shelley (Gordie) (Welner) Rose, Yarmouth; Derek Surette, Yarmouth; Darren Welner, Moncton; great-granddaughter, Shellisa Rose; step-mother, Beulah Roberts, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arden Frost. Visitation was held Friday, September 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with funeral service Saturday at 2 p.m., both in Sweeny’s Funeral Home chapel, Yarmouth, Rev. Brian Wallace officiated.
