O’CONNELL (MELANSON), Margaret Mary – Margaret passed away on Sunday, August 31 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Joseph C. Melanson and Mary Rose (Doucet) Melanson. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Gustave, a sister, Georgina, and a daughter, Donna Morris. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Diane (Bruce) Jacquard; sons, Wayne, Warren (Pat), and Neil (Rhonda); grandchildren, Greg and Darrell Jacquard, Glen and Shauna Morris, Neil and Brandon O’Connell, and great granddaughter, Vanessa Cottreau, as well as extended grandchildren, Samantha Duplessis, and Mark and Chris Fevens. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Evelyn Crespo, Edith Trembley, Agnes Dixon, Joyce Comeau; brothers, Ulysses and Gilbert, their spouses and families. Margaret worked at the Cotton Mill and Dominion Textiles, except for short periods, from the age of 17 to her retirement at the age of 65. She was a very quiet, thoughtful and caring person, with a wry sense of humor. Bingo and playing cards were her favorite pastimes. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and again from 7 to 9 on Monday, with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, from Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Albert Street, Yarmouth, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Earnest Archibald “Ernie” Morine – 74, of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on Melanson Mountain, he was a son of the late William and Ethel (Brown) Morine. He was self-employed as a plumber and operated E. A. Morine Plumbing Services. In his earlier years, Ernie played hockey for the Wolfville Falcons. He enjoyed outdoor sports, especially fishing, had a love for music and was an accomplished fiddle player. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Bucky” and loved watching his grandsons play hockey. He was also an honourary member of the Wolfville and District Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, the former June Atwell; his three daughters, Sharon (Garnet) Hancock, Berwick; Brenda (Curtis) Davidson, Gaspereau; Denise Morine (Kirk Barkhouse), White Rock; four step-children, Betty-Jean (Brian) Tupper, Port Williams; Brenda-May (John) Hardacker, Grand Pré; Sherri-Lee Balcom, Edmonton; Jerome (Karen) Lawrence, Wolfville; six sisters, Virginia Bennett, Shirley Waldeck, Frances Karr, Margaret Patterson, Jean Schofield and Betty Jackson; three brothers, William, Eric and Perry; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008, Reverend Allison Kirkbride officiated. Burial took place in the Melanson Cemetery. A reception followed in the Wolfville and District Lions Hall. Family flowers only, by request. DEVEAU, Dorothy Maude, 81, of Auburn, born in Tiddville, died Aug. 31, 2008, in North Hills Care Centre, Granville Ferry. Memorial service Sept. 6 in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, Kingston.

HERMAN, Carolyn Ann - 63, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully September 1, 2008 in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Caledonia, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Kathleen (Zong) Smith. Carolyn enjoyed camping, dancing and especially darts. She is survived by her companion Aberdeen McInness; daughter Annette (Dannie) Hyson of North Brookfield; son Wayne (Sandra) of Chelsea; grandchildren: Courtney Hyson, Chad Herman and Natasha Herman; Sister Gertrude Zinck of Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her former husband Royden and Brothers Jakey Smith and Terry Zong. Graveside funeral service was held Saturday, September 6, 2008 in Highland Cemetery, Caledonia. Rev. BERRY, Harvella Mary (Harris), 89 – passed away on September 1, 2008 in Villa St. Joseph du Lac, Dayton, Yarmouth Co. Born in Greenville, Yarmouth Co., on March 25, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Ian Falls and Minnie Mariah Harris. Harvella was a member of Rose of Sharon Church, Yarmouth, where she was baptized this past Easter. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending summers with them in London, Ont. Raised in Greenville, she came from a family of ten children and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a housekeeper all of her life and a nanny for several families in Yarmouth. She was a passionate and accomplished dancer. Surviving are daughters, Alberta (Jack) MacDonald, London, Ont.; Myra (Wayne) Ritchie, Dayton, Yarmouth Co.; Stephanie (Domenico) Dicicco, Dayton, Yarmouth Co.; Valerie (Harold Jarvis) Berry, Hebron, Yarmouth Co.; Rose (Laird) MacIsaac, Yarmouth; sons, Jackie (Donna), Brandford, Ont.; Don (Susan), Yarmouth; Lorne (Rozanne), Vancouver Island; 28 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Chester Berry, a daughter in infancy, several brothers and sisters. Remains were resting in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth where visiting hours took place Tuesday, September 2 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held Wednesday, September 3, at 11 a.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home chapel, Rev. Michael Alden-Fells officiated, assisted by Rev. Joyce Robart. Interment will follow at a later date in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. SUTTLE, Joan Blanche, 52, 0f Highfield Park, Dartmouth, formerly of Lockeport passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Joan enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an active member of the Special Olympics with the ringette team. Her last place of employment was at the Food for Others on Ochterloney Street in Dartmouth. She is survived by her fiancee, Michael MacDougal, Dartmouth; brothers, William (Heather), Lockeport; David (Ellen), East Green Harbour; Vincent (Beverley), Sandy Point; sister, Betty (Byron) MacKay, Gross Isle, Magdalene Islands, Quebec; She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Annie (West) Suttle; brother, Joseph. Funeral service was held on Friday, September 5, 2008 at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport, with Rev. Joanne McFadden officiating. Interment was in Lockeport Cemetery. Ruth Margaret Libby-Brinton – passed away September 1, 2008, at Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born in Manchester New Hampshire in 1908, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Margaret (White) Gibson. She was proud to have celebrated her 100th Birthday this past February. She is survived by her son George (Donna) Libby, Step-Daughter June (Romeo) Beloin, Step-Son Arthur (Barbara) Brinton, two Granddaughters, Shannon Libby of Dartmouth, and Jodi (Brad) Pineo of Berwick, a Grandson, Eric Libby of Gatineau Quebec, and six Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Andrew Libby (1880-1956), her second husband Harold Brinton, two step-sons, David and Roger Brinton and her brother Roland Gibson. Mrs. Libby-Brinton has donated her body to Medical Science and there will be a family Service at a later date. As a life member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville branch, there will be a Memorial Service with the date to be announced. ROBICHEAU, Lillian Mary, 67, of Brighton, born in Marshalltown, died Sept. 1, 2008, in Halifax. Funeral Sept. 4 in St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Marshalltown. Burial in Madonna Cemetery.

Bruce Douglas Kinsman – 39, of Sheffield Mills, Kings County, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, he was a son of George and Mary (Ward) Kinsman. He had been employed with V. Kinsman and Son Limited for several years. He enjoyed antiques, fishing, his rose gardens and his dogs, especially Charlie and Misty. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Sheila (Alden) Bishop, Baxter’s Harbour; a brother, Brian, Sheffield Mills; a niece, Jana; a nephew, Justin (Sherri); many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service followed by a reception was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor Peter Lohnes officiated. Burial will take place at a later date. Family flowers only by request. Daniel Allen - 76 of Berwick, Kings Co. passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in London, England August 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Daniel and Daisy (Dance) Allen. He came to Canada in 1956 where he worked as a machinist for many years in Toronto. Daniel moved to Nova Scotia in 1979 where he worked for ABS Poultry till a back injury retired him in 1986. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 43 years, Elizabeth " Betty" (Arenburg); daughter, Elizabeth "Lisa" & David Keddy, Blue Mountain; son, Daniel Allen, Collingwood, Ont.; grandchildren, Daniel J. Allen, B.C.; Joshua & Brandon Keddy, Blue Mountain; sisters: Joyce (Don) Franklin, Seattle Wash.; Doreen Dano & Betty Allen both of England; brother, Kenneth, England; mother-in-law, Kathleen Arenburg, Berwick; many brother & sister-in-laws; nieces & nephews. A special thanks to Dr. Bustin & Bernice; Dr. Mac Innis & the staff of Valley Regional for their care & concern. A special thanks to Jim, Barb, Wendy & Ron. A grave side service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5th in the Berwick Cemetery, Berwick. Rev. Tim Bigelow officiated. No flowers by request.
