September 12 and 13, CentreStage Theatre, in conjunction with the Glooscap Curling Club, will present “Guys and Dolls” at the curling club, Kentville.
At Acadia
The photographic exhibit of Silver Ghost will be on at the Acadia Art Gallery all this week.
September 12, photographer Thaddeus Holownia and writer Harry Thurston will be present for a book signing at 7:30 p.m. Opening remarks will be presented by Alex Colville.
The exhibition is presented jointly by the Acadia University Art Gallery and the Arthur Irving Academy of the Environment.
Curator Laurie Dalton says the next exhibit is also very exciting, showcasing the work of Edward Burtynsky, on loan from the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. The opening will be Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
Catch the films
The Fundy Film Autumn series begins Sept. 21. The autumn series pre-paid ticket sale will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept 13 at the Al Whittle Theatre lobby in Wolfville.
Tickets include 6-Packs (six tickets), which are $36. (regular tickets are $8).

Creating a market soap opera
A collaborative soap opera series for You Tube is forming a 100 per cent local company, directed by Kimberly Smith of Canning.
It will be set against the backdrop of the Wolfville Farmers Market. All ages are required, no experience is necessary.
The group will need a regular commitment of two hours a week for six weeks.
“You will learn a fun, fast, collaborative way to create, perform and shoot your own soap opera scenes,” says Smith.
The first organizing meeting will be upstairs at the Wolfville Library, from 11 to noon,Sept. 13.
Young talent here
Twenty-year-old Michael Thibodeau will be featured in a performance in Denton Hall, Acadia University, Wolfville, Sept. l9 at 8 p.m. Admission is by freewill offering.
He is the winner of the 2008 Atlantic Young artist Competition, held in Dieppe, N.B. in May. His award includes a concert tour of the Atlantic region. Thibodeau will present a varied program of music for solo piano, includeing Sonata in D Major, Op. 10 No. 3 (Beethoven), Ballade No. 3 in A-flat Major, Op. 47 (Chopin), Butterflies and Bobcats by Canadian composer David L. McIntyre, and portions of Vingt regards sur l'enfant-Jésus, (Messiaen) and Années de pèlerinage, Deuxième année: Italie by Liszt.
A native of Middleton, he is completing his final year of the Bachelor of Music program at Mount Allison University. Currently a student of Dr. Stephen Runge, he has also studied with Dr. Edmund Dawe and Robin Harrison. Michael is a Bell Scholar - a recipient of Mount Allison's most prestigious entrance scholarship. He has studied piano since the age of seven, and completed the ARCT Performer's examination of the Royal Conservatory of Music at 17. This past summer, Thibodeau spent nine weeks at the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School in Aspen, Colorado, where he studied with Gabriel Chodos of the New England Conservatory.
Thibodeau spends his time away from the piano pursuing interests in literature, academics, community work and endurance sports. He plans to pursue graduate studies in piano performance following graduation next year.

September 12 at the Union St. Café in Berwick, there is an open mic kitchen party with Rozalind MacPhail No cover charge.
September 19, the open mic kitchen party features Jesse Beck.
Then, Sept. 20, a special performance with Michael Pickett and Doc MacLean is scheduled. They will perform at 9 p.m. Tickets are $12.
The following Saturday, Sept. 27, folk music hero David Francey will be in for his near-yearly performance at Union Street. Seats are $25 and going fast. Call 538-7787 to book.
