Wickwire mural complete after 264 hours

As students and staff spent their summer at home, away from Dr. John C. Wickwire Academy, one teacher spent 264 hours in the school’s gymnasium.

Alta Mason, a Program Support Assistant painted a giant mural on the gym’s wall.

“It’s the biggest project I’ve ever done,” said Mason. “I’m happy with it, overall.”

“I did a lot of thinking,” she began. “I went on the internet, looked at tonnes and tonnes of pictures.”

She painted many different sports on the wall and included eight Dr. John C. Wickwire students in the mural as well.

Eight other students also helped Mason paint the wall.

“Any students that helped paint, got to put their hand print on one of the panels they helped on,” she said.

This is Mason’s third mural at the school.
