Boil order ends for Liverpool area
Bacteria wasn’t present
The boil order issued for customers of the Liverpool area water utility ended 1 p.m. today (Sept. 7) after two consecutive tests over the weekend showed no bacteria was present in the water.
Chloroforms, which is another word for bacteria, was found Sept. 4 at one of the utility’s four test sites. However, as Region of Queens Engineering and Works Department Director, Brad Rowter suspected at the time, the positive outcome was due to an error at some point in the testing process.

He said, “Bacteria was never present in the water.”

The reason for his now-substantiated belief was chlorine was found in the tested water and the results from the utility’s other three testing sites were negative.
