For a fourth year, the Queens County Museum will host an antique road show, allowing people to bring in their treasures and antiques to show appraisers.
The antique road show will take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Queens County Museum.
“There’s no limit on what you can bring in,” says Queens County Museum Director, Linda Rafuse. “Any type of dish, glassware, books, textiles, jewelry, paper money, coins, stamps, any type of furniture, toys, I guess any type of memorabilia, postcards.”
Last year’s appraisers and volunteers will help out again this year.
The four appraisers are Mary Munhall, Jeri Bass, Ralph Gidney, and Dennis Teakle.
“They’ve always been pleased with the number of good quality antiques that are still available here in the area,” Rafuse says about the appraisers.
Thinking about previous road shows, Rafuse says, “The jaw dropper (one year) was a lady who brought in a jade necklace.”
There is no limit to what people can bring to the road show and it will cost $3 per item.
Money raised goes back to the Queens County Museum.
“Everything goes into the museum, into children’s programming, exhibit development, mostly those two,” she says. Money raised can also go towards the archive’s collection.
