Firefighters respond to Marla alarm
A mid-afternoon fire today caused smoke damage to one unit of the Marla apartment building on Montague Row. Tenant Darrell Mudge was uninjured but was given alternative quarters for the night.
About 50 residents of the apartment building were evacuated in late March by another fire and spent one night in a temporary shelter at the fire hall or with friends or relatives in the area.
Fire damage was confined to three apartments—two of which were vacant at the time. The occupant of the third was relocated to another unit.
The large wooden structure was once the Lour Lodge hotel.
