Family fun day

Aug. 16

Sermon circle

A sermon circle will be held at Beacon United Church at 7.30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, to discuss the church service message broadcast on CJLS at 6 p.m. Light refreshments.

Grief support group

Starts Aug. 18

A six- week community grief support group will be offered to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, beginning Monday, Aug. 18, from 6:30-8 p.m. Location TBA. Topics include: emotions associated with the grief journey, how children view and cope with death, and tools for recovery. Skating registration

Aug. 19

The Yarmouth Skating Club will be holding registration for all fall and winter programs (Canskate, power skate, and all figure skating programs) on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 5-7 p.m. at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth. The Canskate program is now offering a reduced rate for the 2008 fall season only to skaters who register on this day.

Soprano Sally Dibblee and pianist Robert Kortgaard will be performing on Monday, Sept. 15 at the Yarmouth County Museum, 7:30 p.m. presented by Hear!Here! in Yarmouth, a newly formed committee comprising local music lovers who believe people in southwestern Nova Scotia shouldn’t have to travel to enjoy classical musicians in performance. Hall of fame opened

The Sports Hall of Fame, in its new location at 435 Main St., is now opened from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. And the sports calendar is on sale at the hall of fame, City Drug and Spears and MacLeod Pharmasave. You can also pick up hall of fame nomination forms at the same locations. Deadline is Sept. 30.

Every Saturday there is a Farmers’ Market at the Canadian Tire parking lot on Starrs Road from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Veterans Association
