Fisherman saved by passing motorist
Sometimes just paying attention can save someone’s life.
A 25-year-old man was driving on the Trans-Canada Highway through Watsons Pond Industrial Park near Corner Brook, N.L. the evening of Aug. 1 when he noticed an overturned boat on the pond.
He stopped and realized that a man who had been fishing from the aluminum boat was in the water.
The 46-year-old fisherman had tried to pull in the anchor and overturned the boat in the process. The 25-year-old man rushed into the water and pulled the angler to shore with a rope from another driver that had stopped.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and checked out both men, who were released shortly after.
