Emergency department August schedule
South West Health has announced the August closure periods of the emergency department at Digby General Hospital:
• Thursday, Aug. 7, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
• Monday, Aug. 11, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 14, at 8 a.m. until Friday, Aug. 15 at 8 a.m.
• Monday, Aug. 18, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 21, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Monday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 28 at 8 a.m. until Friday, Aug. 29 at 8 a.m.
The closures are a result of physician unavailability.
Area residents who need emergency services during the hours of closure are advised they should visit Yarmouth Regional Hospital emergency department, Annapolis Community Health Centre emergency department, Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, or Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville).
The public is reminded to dial 911 in the case of an emergency. An ambulance can only be dispatched by calling 911.
South West Health reminds people go to an emergency department to bring their Nova Scotia Health Card, a list of medications and a list of allergies.
