Man pulled off fishing boat being treated at hospital

A man pulled off a fishing boat and transported to shore has been taken to hospital in Corner Brook, N.L. to be treated.

Emergency workers pulled the 23-year-old man from an unnamed fishing vessel just north of Port au Choix Monday afternoon, July 27.

Captain Mike O’Brien, a spokesman for 103 Search and Rescue Squadron in Gander, said the young man was suffering from severe migraine headaches. He had started to go in and out of consciousness when his doctor recommended that he be removed from the boat immediately.

The Canadian Forces Cormorant helicopter was tasked to bring the young man to shore from a position about 22 miles north of Port au Choix.
