Bridgewater swim meet 2008
To start off an excellent year of Butterfly and long distance, the Dambusters did amazing at the Bridgewater meet on Saturday, July 19. The team had three new swimmers test their metal against the veterans, and do extremely well.

For the girls 9-10, the swimmers were: Rachel MacNeil-Dixon, newcomers Shakira Joudrey and Hayley Zwicker. The girls had to swim 25m Fly, 25m Breast and 50m Free. Rachel placed 25th in Fly, 64th in Breast. Rachel took more than 6 seconds off her long Free to achieve a 20th place finish. In Shakira’s first meet, she eagerly swam her Butterfly and it showed with her placing 67th. Shakira also swam her Breaststroke clinching the 72nd spot. Hayley only swam her Breaststroke on Saturday, but she did spectacularly with it. She placed 66th.

Although there was only one 11-12 girl at the meet that did nothing to take away from Milton’s presence at Bridgewater, thanks to Jessica Howard. Jessica swam her 50 Fly for the first time, earning 59th place. Her Breast result was 66th. In her first 100 Free she placed 59th.

The boys 11-12 had good representation with Jacob Chandler, Logan Comeau and newbie Nick Acocella. Jacob swam his 50 Fly finishing 28th. Jacob also got 29th in the 50 Breast and in his 100 Free Jacob went for a 25th place finish. Logan’s first 50 Fly netted him 45th. He placed 43rd in Breast as well as in his long Free. Nick, in his first meet ever, got 26th in Butterfly. He also swam his Breast to place 22nd and 33rd in the Free

The girls 13-14 consisted of Jaclyn Knapp and Bronwyn Thompson. Jaclyn swam a PB 50 Fly earning 44th place. Jaclyn’s Breaststroke got 47th place. Bronwyn had a great meet, setting all PBs. She took 8 seconds off her Fly, putting her in 52nd place. She also took more than 9 seconds off her Breast time, ending up in 48th. Lastly, in her first 200 Free, Bronwyn placed 47th.

Matt Muise was Milton’s main (and only) 13-14 male. In his only event of the day, he swam his Fly placing 30th.

Megan Doucette, our 15-16 girls, lowered her Fly time to place 25th. In her Breast (always her best event) she just missed earning points with an 11th place.

Graham Muise finished off the day for the team by placing 10th in Fly and 19th in Free.

Well done Dambusters! Welcome new swimmers, what a way to start your swimming career. The team will go to Bedford on Saturday and Bridgetown on Sunday.
