Four days of fun on the other side of the mountain
On the August long weekend (August 1st-4th), all roads lead to the Village of Margaretsville on the Fundy Shore. Always a busy spot, this August weekend sees the annual celebration of “Margaetsville Days,” and this year promises to be a blockbuster event.

On Friday, August 1 join Roger Crowthers of “Antiques Roadshow” fame for a valuation of those ‘Trash or Treasure?’ items each of us own. Bring two items for just $5 to Margaretsville Community Hall from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. until … whenever it’s over. Reservations are required, call Betty at 825-3290 to schedule times.

Saturday, August 2 starts early with the “Around the Square” parade of yard sales, simply drive to town, stop at the first sale you see and the other salers will tell you where the next is located. It’s an adventure! And be sure to catch the Village Children’s Parade through town at 11 a.m., complete with prizes for the children.

The big kids will want to chow down at the Scallop Dinner held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Margartetville Community Hall. This popular event, sponsored by the Wharf Society” requires a reservation, (call 825-3290 or 825-2251 for cost and information).

Round off the evening with a rousing concert at Margaretsville’s famous Evergreen Theatre, featuring the well known local group of Tidal Funk … the action gears up at 8 p.m. for just $15 a head.

Sunday morning church is an ‘Everyone Welcome’ event at the two village churches. The United Church service is at 9:30 a.m. and the Baptist Church service is held at 10 a.m.

In the afternoon, it’s the famous Margaretsville “Ice Cream Parlour,” held each Sunday of the summer in the Community Hall. Scoopin’ commences at 1 p.m. The ‘Souvenir Showcase’ will also be open for business while you enjoy your ice cream. Many items are handcrafted locally and make great gifts.

Artist Circle Gallery, open 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. all summer on Margaretsville picturesque old wharf, is hosting its’ own special event. Four wooden window covers, each painted by a different artist, will be presented for silent auction during the weekend, with the auction ending at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 at the Community Hall. Highest bidder will be called if not present.

Monday, August 4 - well folks, we don’t know for sure yet either, so come along over and be surprised. We’ll call it ‘Mystery Monday’ and see what happens, ok? Y’all come now.
