Buckler Exhibit

Until August 31 Ernest Buckler exhibit, Macdonald Museum in Middleton, until August 31, celebrates the 100th birthday of this esteemed Valley author with a display of photos and memorabilia including Mr. Buckler's desk, his typewriter, his university degree hoods, and lots more. The museum also has a small display of Loyalist (reproduction) costumes in commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the Loyalists in Nova Scotia.

Tennis mixer

July 24 Town of Middleton is offering adult tennis “Mixer Nights” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. No fee, but registration is required by phoning the Rec. Office at 825-6611. Join us for some recreational tennis and meet other players. Also August 7 & 21.

Ice Cream Social

July 24 The Bridgetown Library, the Town of Bridgetown, and D’s Chicken are hosting an Anne of Green Gables Ice Cream Social on July 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jubilee Park. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables, by dressing as your favourite character from the books, or wear braids. Old-fashioned games, crafts, and contests, recitations, and free ice cream, donated by D’s Chicken. All ages and fans of Anne are welcome to this free event.

Community Lunch

July 25 The Women’s Place is hosting free community lunches the last Friday of each month. Our next session will be July 25 at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Seniors’ Safety Coordinator, Christine Kennedy, will speak on staying safe and preventing elder abuse. All are welcome to attend. Flea Market

July 25 & 26 At the Parish Hall in Deep Brook, 639 Hwy #1, starting at 9am both days. Refreshments available. Proceeds for the Parish of Clements Anglican Church.

Quilting Workshop

July 26 A Loyalist Quilting Workshop will be held on Saturday, July 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at North Hills Museum. Instructor Helen Brown. Advanced registration required. Call 5323-2168.

Benefit

July 26 Benefit for Bonita Selig/MacDonald at the Royal Cdn. Legion in Clementsport from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Auction and entertainment, dance to follow at 9:30pm featuring Back Track. Free will offering.

Jamboree

July 26 Come to the Port George Country Jamboree, opens at 7 a.m. Start with breakfast ($4), search 200 Flea Market tables, and enjoy 11 hours of live music from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., also canteen with great food, fun for the kids, and don’t forget about our supper ($8). Cribbage tournament

July 26 Cribbage Tournament at the Middleton Legion Branch #1 with registration at 12, noon and play starting at 1:00 p.m. All entrance monies returned in prizes. Canteen available. Members and guests welcome. Must be 19 years of age. Call 825-4751 for more information.

BandFest Dance

July 26 Saturday, July 26, 8 to 11 p.m. Meet BandFest musicians and dance to the sounds of the Annapolis Big Band. At the Annapolis Legion. Tickets $10 at the door. Information: 532-7018.

BandFest Grand Finale Concert

July 27 Sunday, July 27, 2 p.m. Enjoy the music of the BandFest 2008 massed band! ARRA (Junior High School) front lawn, or gym if rain. Free concert, donations accepted towards the Ron McKay “Music for Life” award. Information: 532-7018.

Gospel Concert

July 27 8th Annual Gospel Concert in The Pines, Greenwood, (beside Dairy Queen), 2-5 pm., with six Gospel groups. Bring a lawn chair. Will move inside in case of rain. Freewill offering. Info: 765-8155.

Paws for tea

July 27 CAPS Annual "Paws for TEA" Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Meet our animals in care, enjoy refreshments, and chat with our supporters ,volunteers and foster families. Hampton Lighthouse Fundraiser

North Hills Picnic

July 27 North Hills Museum Community Picnic, Sunday, July 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. in celebration of the 225th anniversary of the arrival of the Loyalists. Wear your heritage costume if you like. Book Sale

July 27 The Annapolis Valley Regional Library will be holding a Giant Used Book Sale at the library administration office at 26 Bay Road in Bridgetown July 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Great prices, great books. All proceeds are for the Annapolis Valley Regional Library.

Claymation Camps

July 28 to August 1 Claymation Camps for children age 10 to 14 will be offered at the Bridgetown C@P Site at the Bridgetown Development Centre, Room 110. Vacation Bible School

July 28-Aug. 1 ‘Power Lab' Vacation Bible School takes place at Middleton Baptist Church from July 28 to August 1. 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. each morning with registration opening 9 a.m. July 28. Public Hampton Lighthouse Visits

August 2 Starting August 2 until September 14, the Hampton Lighthouse will be open for public visits from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays only.

Natal Day Bingo

August 3 Natal Day Bingo, all cash prizes, at the Annapolis Royal Legion Community Center, doors open at 1:15 p.m. with Bingo starting at 2 p.m. (NOT 3 p.m. as previously advertised).

Lion’s breakfast
