Police deal with disturbances, drunks, and truck in the river

Annapolis RCMP were busy during the week of July 14 to July 20 with 95 calls for assistance. Intoxication and disturbance calls were prominent, but one call on Sunday was related to a truck disappearing into the Annapolis River.

Bear River’s Cherry Carnival and Middleton’s Heart of the Valley Days appeared to be quiet events over the weekend.

Included in the calls were seven false 911s; four false alarms; 23 traffic matters; and 17 domestic issues. Following are highlights of these calls:

-- July 14, 11:30 p.m. Nictaux. Police received a report of a distraught female which resulted in the arrest of three individuals under the Liquor Control Act. The female was released and the two males were lodged in cells overnight and later released.

-- July 14, 2:51 p.m. Middleton. A two-vehicle accident resulted in the arrest of one male driver who failed the breathalyzer. He is facing charges of drunk driving.

-- July 14, 4:34 p.m. West Dalhousie. Police received a report of an intoxicated male. He was arrested for public intoxication, jailed, and later released.

-- July 14, 7:50 p.m. Highway 1 Upper Granville. An erratic driving complaint resulted in police locating the driver. The matter was dealt with in the appropriate fashion.

-- July 14, 8:50 p.m. Middleton. Police received a report of a two-vehicle accident. There were no injuries. Both vehicles were damaged.

-- July 15, 12:36 a.m. Wilmot. A disturbance call resulted in the arrest of one male. The subject was lodged in cells overnight and later released.

-- July 15, 12:02 p.m. Bridgetown. A man yelling obscenities was arrested. He was lodged in cells and later released. He is scheduled to appear in court September 2.

-- July 15, 12:17 p.m. Delaps Cove. An area resident called police to report that a house had been broken into. The interior was damaged. The investigation continues.

-- July 16, 2:16 p.m. Bloomington. Police received a report of a break and enter into a camp. A number of items were stolen and there was minor damage to the camp. The investigation continues.

-- July 16, 10:25 p.m. Lawrencetown. A disturbance call resulted in police making a patrol only to find a family gathered around a campfire.

-- July 17, 5:05 p.m. Highway 101, Bridgetown. Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bear. There were no injuries and minor damage to the vehicle. The bear was not located.

-- July 18, 5:26 p.m. Granville Centre. Police assisted EHS after receiving a report of a large pane of glass falling from a delivery truck onto a man's leg. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

-- July 18, 11:48 p.m. Highway1 Wilmot. A concerned citizen contacted police with concerns about two tractors hauling hay down the highway. Police made a patrol, but the vehicles were not located. They appeared to have reached their destinations.

-- July 18, 9:22 p.m. Middleton. Police patrols through Rotary Park during Heart of the Valley Days resulted in the arrest of one male for violating conditions of a court order. He was lodged in cells over night and later released pending a court appearance in September.

-- July 19, 12:11 a.m. Middleton. Police patrols located an intoxicated man. He was arrested, lodged in cells. He faces charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

-- July 19, 3:55 p.m. Alain's Creek. A property owner contacted police after finding four wooden stages stolen.

-- July 19, 7:51 p.m. Middleton. Police patrols through Rotary Park during Heart of the Valley Days located two youths in possession of illegal liquor. The matter was dealt with in the appropriate fashion.

-- July 19, 11:50 p.m. Middleton. Police and EHS responded to a report of a female lying on the sidewalk. An intoxicated female was located and subsequently rescued by a friend.

-- July 20, 1:52 p.m. Middleton. A disturbance complaint resulted in the arrest of one man. He was taken to cells and later released. Charges are pending.

-- July 20, 2:19 p.m. Middleton. A disturbance call resulted in the arrest of a female for violating conditions of a court order. She was lodged in cells and was scheduled to appear in court in Digby on Monday, July 21.

-- July 20, 3:35 p.m. Bridgetown. Police were called to Jubilee Park after an unfortunate vehicle owner had their vehicle slide into the river when trying to launch a seadoo. The truck was totally submerged but was later towed out.
