Swimmers set personal best times
The Dambusters went to visit their neighbours in Lunenburg for the first meet of the season. Four dedicated swimmers met the challenges of the first meet with only two practices under their belts and amazingly each swimmer set new personal best times.

Rachel MacNeil-Dixon set three personal best times and as a result placed 21st in the 25m Freestyle, 17th in the 25m Back and 28th in the IM (individual medley) in the 9-10 year old group.

Bronwyn Thompson represented the 13-14 girls. She placed 36th in the 100m Free, 35th in the 25 m Back and 30th in the IM, setting three new personal best times. Nicholas Townsend was the team representative in the boys 13-14 category. Nick set three personal best times and finished 18th in the 100 m Free, 17th in 50 m Back and 22nd in the IM.

Graham Muise lead the team in points by finishing 6th in the 100m Free (personal best), 4th in the 100 m Back and 5th in the IM (personal best).

Ten Dambusters made the trek to the Valley to participate in the second meet of the season hosted by Kentville.

The 11-12 group was the largest group for the team. Jacob Chandler placed 23rd in the 50y Free, 15th in the 50y Back and 22nd in the IM. Jacob set personal best times in both the Free and IM, while the 50y Back was a new event for him. Logan Comeau was also new to the 50 y Back distance yet he placed a very solid 38th to go with his 38th place in the Free (new personal best) and 36th in the IM (new personal best). Jessica Howard shattered her old personal best time to finish 63rd in the Free as well as setting a P.B. (Personal Best) to finish 53rd in the IM. Jessica swan the 50y Back for the first time and placed 58th. Jessica LaRocque had a strong showing to set three PB’s and finished 59th in Free, 55th in Back and 54th in IM. Felicia Theriau put her mark on the event by setting three new PB’s and finished 57th in Free, 60th in Back and 57th in IM.

As the lone 13-14 girl, Bronwyn Thompson demonstrated her consistency by placing 38th in the 100y Free, 36th in the 50y Back and 38th in the IM. Consistency must have been the key word for the 13-14 group. Matt Muise plowed through the water to place 28th in Free, 26th in Back and 27th in IM, all personal best times. Nick Townsend broke the top ten by placing 10th in Back to go along with his 14th in Free and 15th in IM. All three swims were personal bests for Nick.

The senior members of the team flexed their muscles and had top ten finished as well. Megan Doucette’s best finish was 6th in the IM (PB), 12th in the 100 y Back (new distance) and 25th in Free. Rounding out the field was Graham Muise with a 4th place finish in Back, 5th in Free and 7th in IM. Graham’s times in Free and Back were personal bests.

What a great start to the season. The team will travel to Bridgewater on July 19 for the next meet. Go team go!
