Haystack event in Amirault's Hill part of Par-en-Bas festival
Here are a few pictures from Amirault’s Hill Saturday morning during the annual construction of the community’s haystack.
The event, held each summer near the village’s border with Hubbard’s Point, began at around 10 a.m.
A team of volunteers was on hand to help build the haystack, which was finished by about noon.
Previously the focal point of a festival in its own right, the haystack preparation has been made part of the Festival acadien international de Par-en-Bas, which consists of activities throughout the Municipality of Argyle.
More festival activities were to be held Saturday in Amirault’s Hill after the haystack was done, including a mass under a tent, a turkey supper and an evening of musical entertainment.
Festival activities also were scheduled for this weekend in West Pubnico.
The Par-en-Bas festival continues until July 27, its concluding night activities to be held in Wedgeport.
