P.E.I. lobster harvesters fined $1,000 for undersized lobsters
Two Tignish lobster harvesters were fined $1,000 each for having undersized lobster in their catch when they appeared in Summerside court on Wednesday, July 16.
Neil Joseph Perry, 43, and Floyd Joseph Gaudette, 49, entered guilty pleas to separate charges under the Fisheries Act.
The harvesters had been charged after their catches were inspected in port at Tignish Run during the spring lobster season.
In late May, Floyd Gaudette had six undersized lobsters in his catch aboard the Island Lady.
A week later on June 7, fishery officers found Neil Perry had six undersized lobsters on board his vessel, Little Moses
The lobsters were under the legal size limit of 70 mm.
The court was informed that both harvesters were first time offenders.
