Wolfville organizers have arranged for seven days of activities this year for Mudcreek Days in celebration of the town’s 115th anniversary and the 178th anniversary of its name change.
Tonight and tomorrow, Andy Jones will present his unique brand of Newfoundland comedy in “An Evening with Uncle Val” at the Al Whittle Theatre. Each show gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday evening, writer Sheree Fitch will launch her new novel, Kiss the Joy As It Flies, at the Box of Delights bookstore. She will read at 7 p.m.
On Thursday the ever-so-sweet dessert contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at St. John’s parish hall. All chocolate lovers are welcome to participate.
Found bands will be in concert at the Whittle Theatre at 8 p.m. Magic 94.9 radio host Amanda Milne will MC the event.
Randall House Museum volunteers will serve a cream tea Friday afternoon, starting at 3 p.m. Then the ever-popular Mud Creek Challenge will kick up some dirt at 6 p.m. in Willow Park.
A blues concert with the local favourites the Hupman Brothers, Ross Neilsen and the Suffering Bastards is planned for later Friday. The Al Whittle concert starts at 8 p.m.
On Saturday the Wolfville Farm Market will present Tastes of the Valley all morning. A skateboarding jamboree is set for 1 p.m.
The town birthday part gets underway at 1 p.m. in Willow Park. Michael Hirschbach will entertain.
The music goes on Saturday night with a Songwriters Circle at 8 p.m. in the Whittle Theatre. Featured performers are Thom Swift, Ross Neilsen, and the Hupman Brothers. Fireworks are planned for 10 p.m. at the waterfront.
Among Sunday’s events are a soccer skills competition and a family kitchen garden party, which is a fundraiser for Shinerama. It will run for three hours during the afternoon at the Irving Centre gardens.
