Balser slips in third round of Amateur
Digby’s Anne Balser wound up going south Friday at the NSGA Royale Women’s Amateur championship in West Pubnico. Alone in second after two rounds, Balser’s third round ballooned to 90, putting her 17 shots behind leader Mireille LeBlanc of Meteghan River.
The Clare golfer shot her third consecutive round in the 70s on Friday and leads by 10 strokes over defending champion Laura Harris of Ken-Wo and Debi DeCoste of Granite Springs.

Friday’s round was the second straight seven-over 79 for LeBlanc, although playing conditions were wildly different. Thursday’s round was interrupted for two hours by heavy rain and lightning, while a softened course made Friday a day for low scores.
