Prescott House is a fun place to be for children this summer. On Tues., July 22 (rain date July 23) from 10 a.m. to noon there will be a nature walk and craft for children five-and-up. Pre-register by July 17.

On Tues., July 29 (rain date July 30), kids five-and-up can cast off for treasure in the gardens. Learn about pirates and privateers of the 1800s. Pre-register by July 24.

For both workshops, the cost its $5. Space is limited, so please pre-register by calling the museum at 542-3984. Dress for the weather: wear sunscreen and a hat. A snack will be provided.

New for 2008 are the Thursday Art Workshops starting July 10 and continuing until Aug. 14. They will run from 10 a.m. to noon and are for all ages. The cost is $5.

Explore the finer points of drawing, painting and creating art. Pre-register by the Monday before the workshop. Space is limited. Snack provided.

On display until mid-July is a display of miniatures and photos.

There’s a lot going on at the library this summer. July’s anniversary events are two puppet-making workshops with puppeteers from Mermaid Theatre July 16. The one for children nine-and-under will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and one for those 10-and-up will be held from 1:30-3 p.m. Call the Library at 542-3005 to register.

Every Wednesday during July and August there will be a Kids' Camp at the Library from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. for kids ages 5-8. Please contact the library for more information.

A Teen Lounge will be held every Thursday night throughout the summer from 6:30-8 p.m. Come along to hang out and play computer games. On July 24 there will be an Anime night showing Ragnarok.

For anyone interested, the Library is offering one-on-one computer tutorials on topics such as Internet Security, Digital Cameras, or any other topic of interest.

The Annapolis Valley Regional Library's annual Summer Reading Program is well underway. Hang Out and Read this summer! All readers through age 18 will be asked to complete a reading goal in order to earn a free FastPass from our Summer Reading Partner, Upper Clements Park.

Teen readers (ages 12-18) will earn a pass by reading for 25 hours this summer. Other great prizes can be won just by reading and entering our contests!

A 'Strawberry Tea in the Garden' is to be held on Sat., July 19 (rain date Sun., July 20) from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Ron and Carol Buckley's, 48 Cooperage Lane. This is a fundraiser for the Baptist Church painting project. Freewill offering.

The Prescott House annual Strawberry Social will be held Sun., July 20 from 2-4 p.m. The cost is $5. Enjoy live music in a beautiful setting while having strawberry shortcake. A tour of the house is included.

“Avalanche Ranch” is the Daily Vacation Bible School program being held at the Baptist church this summer. Children age 5 to Grade 5 are invited to attend. Come gather at the church each morning, Aug. 11-15, from 9 a.m. until noon for lots of fun, music, laughter and learning. Plan to attend, and bring your friends!
