Ardoise offers a fun day for families
The Ardoise Community Hall board needs the support from a municipal government grant application to benefit financially from the Ardoise Family Fun Day held July 5.
Hall board member Susan Wright noted that approximately $500 was raised from the event, but about $600 was needed to break even with costs to run the activities during the day. However, a special events grant of $700 has been applied for to raise additional funds.
It’s hard to think all the hard work put into the event might end up costing more money than it made, Wright said. “But everyone did have a great time; so that’s a bonus.”
All profits generated from the family fun day will go towards maintenance, upkeep and repair or the hall, Wright said. “Everything costs these days.”
Without donations and the help of volunteers, it would be impossible to run the day camps, bingos, card games or pre-teen dances at this facility, Wright added. “Thanks should be given to the community for all the continued support.”
Greenhill resident Bonnie Dunn brought her family out for the fun day in Ardoise.
The event lets families grab lunch, bounce around in an inflatable tent and just have a good time together, Dunn said. “We wanted to take the kids out and support the hall.”
It’s a very active hall, Dunn added. ‘We’ve been to a few flea markets here.”
