June 29 to July 5, 2008 CARD, Shirley Evangeline Nora; age 75, of Centre Burlington, Hants County, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her home. Born October 27, 1932, in Black Rock, Kings County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lillian (O’Leary) Keddy. She worked for the past 18 years, at the Windsor House, taking care of her second family.  She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Walter Colin Card; daughters, Janise Card (Brian Spencer), Upper Burlington; Donna (Francis) Coffill, Windsor Back Road; Wanda Card (Grant Burgess), Windsor; Pam (Byron) Chandler, Vaughans; Terry (Mike) Eldridge, Newport Corner; son, Brian Bedell, Cambridge Narrows, NB; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; foster sons, Allan (Muriel) Fraser, Windsor; Donnie (Diana) Fraser, Edmonton, AB; her longtime special friend, Dot Card, Bellingham, Mass.; sisters, Olive Crouse, Somerset; Marguerite (Elroy) Mills, Cambridge; Sylvia (David) Hampsey, Berwick; Irma (Stephen) Lutz, Waterville; brothers, Willis “Bill” (Pauline) Keddy, Halls Harbour; Clifford “Allister” (Linda) Keddy, Black Rock; Lawrence (Brenda) Keddy, Black Rock; Francis (Mary) Keddy, Waterville; Garnet (Heather) Keddy, Burlington; sister-in-law, Alda Keddy, Middleton; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Harding and Effie O’Leary; Willis and Nora Keddy; brother, Gerald; and an infant sibling. Special thanks to granddaughter, Kathy Laffin, Summerville Fire Department, and the ambulance attendants for all there care. Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2008, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. E. E. Hill officiated, followed by interment at the Card Beach Cemetery, Card Beach Road, Centre Burlington. June 29 to July 5, 2008 Malcom Alvin “Mac” Veinott - Passed away peacefully Monday, June 30, 2008, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after suffering a stroke on Saturday. Born September 19, 1930, in Lake Ramsay, New Ross, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Alvin and Naomi (Hiltz) Veinott. Malcom was an avid outdoorsman. He worked as a machine operator and a Christmas tree farmer. He enjoyed his horses and oxen and as well, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and down east music. He will be sadly missed by many family and friends, especially Marion Legge with whom he resided, and nephew, Miles Veinott. He is survived by brother, Cedric, Lake Ramsay; sisters, Marjorie (Skerry), New Ross; Doris (Hughes) and Winnie (Olmstead), both of Shoreham Nursing Home, Chester; Frances (Olmstead), Lake Ramsay; Loretta (Neville), Kentville; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Leland and Ernest, and sister, Reta Reeves and many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Malcom was held from 7-9 p.m. in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 38 Forties Rd., New Ross. (902-689-2961). Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday July 3, in Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, with Rev. Rick Walsh of Chester, officiating. June 29 to July 5, 2008 Shelly Louise (Fox) Cann - 44, passed away on July 1st in Cranbrook, B.C. She was the daughter of Louise C. Fox and the late Robert D. Fox of Yarmouth, N.S. Besides her mother she is survived by her devoted husband Bruce Cann, son of Malcolm and Jessie Cann- South Ohio, her daughters Jade (Sean VanVeller) Fox, Sarah (Walter Graham Richards), Brandi, Charlotte, her sons Nathan, Jesse Cann, all of Cranbrook B.C. , brothers Robert (Lori) Fox, Westmeath Ontario- Richard (Elaine) Fox, Yarmouth. Sisters, Beverly (Frank Ross) Nickerson, Edmonton Alberta- Wendy (Vernon) Penney, Yarmouth-Roxanna (Gary Goreham) Fox Amirault’s Hill. Grandchildren Alisha, Elizabeth, Samantha, Eric all of Cranbrook BC. She has many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Shelly’s greatest interest was caring for her family. She loved being a mother, talking on the phone to family, camping, playing pool and the beauty of the mountains. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Memorial Service to be held at the North Baptist Church, Thursday July, 10th at 11:00 am. Rev. Bill Newell officiating. No flowers by request. June 29 to July 5, 2008 Agnes Marie Miller – 86, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, July 1, 2008 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Tennycape, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lottie (Neily) Lingard. Agnes was a veteran of the Second World War, having served as a transport driver and with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps. She was a member of the Canadian Women’s Army Training Corps and graduated from MacDonald College in 1942. Following the war, she had been employed for a number of years with Kentville Publishing. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville where she received several awards, including the Meritous Service Award. She had been recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the Town of Kentville and also received recognition by the Kentville Police Department. Agnes exemplified volunteerism in a very humble and unassuming manner. She provided countless teddy bears and finger puppets to the Valley Regional Hospital, Soldiers Memorial Hospital and Evergreen Home for Special Care, as well as hospitals, health clinics, and fire and police departments in Nunavut for children exposed to traumatic situations. She also volunteered with The War Amps and was involved with the Girl Guide Movement for 25 years. In 2003, Agnes was presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship, Rotary’s highest recognition for “Service Above Self”. Over a number of years, she provided over 100 story suggestions for the well-known television program “Front Page Challenge” and had the honour of appearing as a guest on the program. Agnes is survived by a daughter, Gail Taylor, Greenwich, Kings County; a son, Ronald (Bertha), Wolfville Ridge, Kings County; two sisters, Marguerite Ryan, Toronto; Beulah Benoit, Kemptville, Ontario; two grandchildren, Lisa (Cal), Kingston; Michael (Natalie), Greenwood; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Audrey; two brothers, Orvil and Guy. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2008 with a Royal Canadian Legion service held at 7:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, Reverend Doctor Randy Crozsman officiated. Burial took place in the Veteran’s Plot of the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. June 29 to July 5, 2008 TAYLOR, Kathleen Margaret “Kaye”; age, 69, of Martock, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in the Hants Community Hospital. Kaye was born July 13, 1938 in Martock and was a daughter of the late William & Merle (Hopkins) Taylor. Kaye graduated in 1960 from Payzant Memorial Hospital and then she worked in the Camphill Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, Payzant Memorial Hospital and the Hants Community Hospital before retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Windsor United Baptist Church. Kaye was known as a caregiver and friend to many people. Surviving are brothers, Paul Taylor, Martock; Leon (Pat) Taylor and their daughter, Emma Lee, all of Falmouth; sister, Madelon (Herb) Rafuse, Mount Denson, and their children, Janice Rippey and Shelley Swinamer; brother-in-law, John Munroe and his children, Bill Munroe, Martock and Beth Munroe, Amherst; sister-in-law, Arlie Taylor, Taber, Alberta; and her children, Shauna and Sherri, both of Alberta; She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Josephine Munroe; brother, Lewis Taylor; nephew, Shane Taylor; nieces, Sheila and Shannon Taylor. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor and their will be no visitation by request. A family graveside service will be held at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
