Thanks for library support
Dear Editor:
On behalf of the Bridgetown and Area Friends of the Library, I take this opportunity to thank those who supported our most recent major fundraiser. With the Annapolis River as the idyllic backdrop for the Canada Day celebrations at Jubilee Park, an evening draw was held for the seven meal tickets available in our Taste of Annapolis County draw.
The grand prize, a Falcourt Inn overnight stay with $50 meal certificate, was won by Muriel Godfrey of Bridgetown. Other winners were Audrey Connell (Pasta Jax), Thelma Lowe (Lawrencetown Restaurant), Thane Bent (End of the Line Pub), Twila Zwicker (Fort Anne Cafe), Roberta White (Pearles in Paradise), and Malcolm Gillis (Barnicholls). Congratulations to the winners, with many thanks to all who bought and sold tickets to make this endeavour so worthwhile.
The Friends also sponsored lunch with a toonie special at the park, which was also strongly supported. In all, approximately $1,000.00 was raised in the two projects. This money goes straight to the New Library Building Fund. A special thanks goes to Tara Edwards who worked hard on both projects, as well as her crew of workers who responded so well to the challenge.
The Friends will be participating in the Ernest Buckler Centennial Birthday Party at his Centrelea homestead on July 19. Our next project will likely be Ciderfest Days in September. Stay tuned!
