Wednesday Market in AR

July 16,23 & 30 Annapolis Royal Farm Market every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in July and August. Enjoy shopping in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tennis mixers

July 10 & 24 Town of Middleton is offering adult tennis “Mixer Nights” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. No fee, but registration is required by phoning the Rec. Office at 825-6611. Join us for some recreational tennis and meet other players. Also August 7 & 21.

Musical evening

July 12 Acoustic entertainment by Demi Beaumie at 7:00 pm in the New Beginnings Centre, Greenwood, admission is $5.

Youth Park Clean-up

Western Kings Rink Dance

July 12 The Western Kings Rink Association hosts their annual Summer Dance July 12 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Dance to the music of Spare Parts. Legal age applies. Cost $10 a person.

Evergreen Matinee

July 13 Duane Andrews and Bjorn Thoroddsen in concert at Evergreen Theatre Sunday, July 13 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15. A virtuosic guitarist, Duane Andrews melds Newfoundland music with its mix of French, Irish Portuguese and English influences with Manouche (Gypsy Jazz). Artifacts and Interiors

July 13 The third annual Artifacts and Interiors event will be held at North Hills Museum on Sunday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Watch local and provincial artists create works that are for sale and display throughout the summer. Admission by donation. Info 532-2168

Vacation Bible school

Magic Show

ACTS Meeting

July 17 Annapolis County Trails Society did not have quorum for the June 19 meeting. It has been rescheduled to July 17 at 7 p.m. in Lawrencetown Municipal building. Annual meeting open to public, and to be followed by directors' meeting.

James House Exhibit

July 18-20 A special exhibit highlighting the life and times of Canada's pioneering writer, Ernest Buckler, at the James House Museum, Bridgetown. The exhibit will run July and August, Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., free admission.

Film and Readings

July 18 An evening of film and readings to honour the centennial of the birth of Ernest Buckler at King's Theatre, Annapolis Royal, 7 p.m. on July 18, $5 admission.

Birthday Party

July 19 An afternoon of cakes and lemonade to celebrate the centennial of Ernest Buckler, with special guests and displays at Sue and Scott Ritchie's home in Centrelea, 2 to 5 p.m.: everyone welcome.

Mountain and Valley Dinner

July 19 A celebratory dinner to honour this Canadian classic novel by Ernest Buckler, featuring local food and readings, at End of the Line Pub Reception Room, Bridgetown, 7 p.m. Call 824-0387 for ticket information: this event is a fundraiser for the New Bridgetown Library.

Fiddle Fest

Children’s Parade

July 19 Rosemary Chapter IODE will again sponsor the Children’s Parade in Middleton on Saturday, July 19. The Parade begins at 10 a.m. Participants are to register at 9:15 a.m. on the north side of Middleton Regional High School. Judging will begin at 9:45 a.m. There will be prizes in the five categories: Comic, History or Theme, Group, TV, and Animals or Sport. Come out and make this a great event for everyone.

Slo-Pitch Tournament

July 19-20 The Heart of the Valley Co-ed Slo-Pitch Tournament will be taking place on July 19 and 20 in Middleton. The fee is $275 per team and a new ball. Tent Dwellers

July 19-20 The Tent Dwellers Festival continues on July 19 and 20 with a Nova Scotia Junior Guides Meet at Hibernia, paddling and geocaching at Kejimkujik, Cherry Carnaval at Bear River, and a strawberry supper at Maitland Bridge. July 20 A memorial service in honour of Ernest Buckler at Gibson's Lake Anglican Church, Dalhousie, 2 p.m., closing at his graveside in the church cemetery.

Ice Cream Social

July 24 The Bridgetown Library, the Town of Bridgetown, and D’s Chicken are hosting an Anne of Green Gables Ice Cream Social on July 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jubilee Park. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables, by dressing as your favourite character from the books, or wear braids. Old-fashioned games, crafts, and contests, recitations, and free ice cream, donated by D’s Chicken. All ages and fans of Anne are welcome to this free event.

Vacation Bible School

July 28-Aug. 1 ‘Power Lab' Vacation Bible School takes place at Middleton Baptist Church from July 28 to August 1. 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. each morning with registration opening 9 a.m. July 28.
