Grant awarded to Privateer Days
Privateer Days executive director, Robert Trainor and Gerald Keddy, M.P. South Shore – St. Margaret’s are pleased to announce receipt of a Canadian Heritage grant in the amount of $8,000.

This grant ensures the continuation of the history aspect of Privateer Days for 2008.

“Events like this bring people of all ages and backgrounds together and contribute to the quality of life in our communities,” said Keddy. “I am proud that our government supports this important event, which celebrates the richness of our culture and our history.”

Privateer Days is a long running festival in Liverpool and Queens County. In 1995 Privateer Days evolved into a celebration of the area’s Privateering history, while retaining its local flavor.

Guided wagon tours of Liverpool’s historic points, a guided burial ground tour of the oldest burial grounds in Liverpool, a military encampment portraying life as a soldier in the 18th century and the American invasion of Liverpool, which is re-enacted at Fort Point, all form part of the attraction of Privateer Days.

On behalf of Privateer Days Comission, Trainor would like to thank the Government of Canada, Heritage Canada Ministor Josee Verner and M.P. Gerald Keddy for their generous support.
