Pancake breakfast
July 1
The annual local crime prevention association’s pancake breakfast will be taking place on Canada Day, July 1, starting at 8 on the waterfront in the Killam Brothers’ wharf parking lot .
Horse show/riding school
July 2-5
The Bits &Boots Saddle Club will be holding a riding school July 2, 3 and 4 at the Mariners Centre with Jim Durling as instructor and a horse show on July 5 at the Mariners Centre (double point). Info about both events: 902-648-3040.
Volunteers needed meeting

Volunteers are needed for the Senior 55+ Provincial Games and a meeting for those interested is set for Thursday, July 3, 7 p.m. at Mariners Centre,
31 Cottage St., Yarmouth.The games are being held in Yarmouth and Shelburne County in 2009.

The Chebogue River Aquatic Club will be holding a fundraiser dance Saturday, July 5,
9 p.m. until midnight at the Wedgeport Knights of Columbus hall. Admission: $ 10 per person. Music by Ryan Cook and Sunny Acres. (Rappie pie and Lobster sandwiches for sale.)
Art show

Scenes From History - A retrospective show of paintings by artist Bill Crowell is opening Saturday, July 5, 7 p.m. at the Yarmouth County Museum & Archives. The show will continue through the summer.
Strawberry social/yard sale
July 5
The Lake Vaughan Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a strawberry social and yard sale at the Tusket Falls fire hall on Saturday, July 5, from 1 to 4 p.m (cold plate, strawberries and sweets.) Tickets are $10. For advance tickets call Gordon Raynard at 902-740-3018 or you may pay at the door.

There will be a pig roast at the Kemptville fire hall July 5 from 4:30 until 6. Live music as well.
Guitar tournament

There will be a Guitar Hero III tournament open to ages 10 and up at Le Club Acadien in SAR Saturday, July 5. Registration 9:30-10:30. $5 per person. Info 902-648-2503.
Ox haul
July 5
The 14th annual SAR ox haul, Saturday, July 5, at the Knights of Columbus hall in Rocco Point. Grounds open 11 a.m. Ox haul starts at noon. Rappie pie, seafood chowder, hotdogs, licensed refreshments. All proceeds for Ste. Anne’s Church roof fund. Rain date, Sunday, July 6.

Free summer day camp
July 7
A free summer day camp for children 6 to 11 years of age starts July 7. There will be seven one week camps .Each one week camp will be held at Central School between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. daily. Arts and crafts, outdoor play, daily topics and related activities (e.g. self esteem, angry feelings), lunch and snacks are provided. Registration is required. Cemetery walking tour

There will be a walking tour at Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery July 7, 8 and 9 at 6:30 p.m. Admission by ticket (free) which can be obtained at the Yarmouth County Museum on Collins Street.
Garden tour
July 9
The third annual Tusket area garden tour, sponsored by the Argyle Township Court House Archives, will take place on Wednesday, July 9, (rain date July 10) from 3 to 8 p.m. There will be eight properties with gardens or other points of interest to see. Tickets are $12. and can be purchased at Carl’s Store, The Cell Gift Shop in the Tusket courthouse, Atlantic Florists, and Oasis Water Gardens. There will be refreshments and door prizes.
Concerts
July 11
Music With Friends will be presented Friday, July 11, at the Yarmouth County Museum, 22 Collins St. Two concerts at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. with pianists Gretchen Dane Burdick, Rioko Minay, Michael Morris and Belle Hatfield, as well as recorder ensemble, The Accidental Consort. program features works of Debussy, Brahms, Liszt and Mendelssohn. Funds from the benefit concerts will go towards the purchase of a new flagpole for the Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School in commemoration of the Rock Around the Clock Reunion. Admission by donation.

Veterans’ reunion planned
