Assaults, break-ins dominate week for RCMP

Police continue to investigate the break and enters into several commercial sites in Middleton. A vehicle that was stolen from the Bruce GM dealership was recovered three days later in Halifax. Police continue to follow-up on leads.

The Annapolis detachment of the RCMP responded to 77 calls for assistance during the week of June 16 through June 23. Among these were six false 911s, five false alarms, five traffic incidents and eight domestic matters.

Following are highlights of these calls:

-- June 16 at 1:46 p.m. Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in a Torbrook gravel pit. A vehicle check failed to reveal the registered owner, and the vehicle was towed.

-- June 16 at 3:23 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident on Highway 10 near East Dalhousie. The vehicle was damaged, but drivable after striking a deer.

-- June 16 at 4:58 p.m. The report of an unknown person seen at a Clementsport residence, resulted in the arrest of a female for break and enter and other related charges. The individual has been remanded to custody and was scheduled to appear in court on June 25.

-- June 16 at 5:42 p.m. Police were called to a break and enter into a Upper Clements residence. Taken were: a laptop computer, a digital camera and a cell phone. The suspect has been identified and charges are pending.

-- June 17 at 11:03 p.m. The Bridgetown ESSO station reported a gas and go. The suspect had been identified and will be making payment arrangements.

-- June 17 at 10:16 a.m. A caller reported discovering garbage and drug paraphernalia in Bear River. Police stepped up patrols to deal with the issues.

-- June 17 at 1:41 p.m. The report of an unwanted guest resulted in the arrest of a 50 year-old male in Lawrencetown. The individual was lodged in cells overnight and released.

-- June 17 at 6:08 p.m. Clementsport. A concerned citizen alerted police to the possibility of a fraud/scam, after an individual was canvassing the area for donations to Joints in Motion. Police later arrested a 28 year-old female in relation to this and other incidents. She was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in court on June 25.

-- June 17 at 7:02 p.m. Report of suspicious activity in an abandoned building resulted in police attending. The individuals had departed.

-- June 17 at 10:15 p.m. Highway 1, near Brickton. A caller reported an erratic driver had crossed the line. A patrol was made, but failed to locate the vehicle.

-- June 17 at 11:50 p.m. Meadowvale. The report of a theft from a vehicle resulted in issues being dealt with in a civilized manner between parties known to each other.

-- June 18 at 1:26 a.m. A Middleton caller reported a dangerous driver. A patrol was made but failed to locate.

-- June 18 at 2:11 a.m. An alert citizen in Middleton reported hearing a loud bang and shattered glass. Police discovered that a large halogen lamp had exploded near a business.

-- June 18 at 5:57 a.m. Bridgetown Volunteer Fire Department and police were called to a fire at an abandoned building. The fire is suspicious, but may have been accidentally set.

-- June 18 at 3:40 p.m. Police received a report of a suspicious male sitting in a vehicle parked in Middleton. A patrol was made and discovered the man working on a laptop computer.

-- June 18 at 4:50 p.m. A Bridgetown homeowner reported a break and enter. A green bin was stolen.

-- June 18 at 5:07 p.m. Police received a report of a single vehicle accident on the Clarence Road. The driver swerved to avoid hitting a dog and lost control, putting the vehicle in the ditch. The driver and a passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

-- June 18 at 7 p.m. A reported assault resulted in the arrest of a 25 year-old male in Wilmot. The individual is scheduled to appear in court on July 7.

-- June 19 at 10:12 a.m. Police received a report of a break and enter into a Meadowvale outbuilding. Taken were a lawn mower and wood chipper. The investigation continues.

-- June 19 at 10:04 a.m. Police received a report of a break and enter into a Lequille residence. Tools were taken, the investigation continues.

-- June 19 at 11:38 p.m. A Victoria Beach business reported that a 2000-pound, 10-foot stainless steel tank had been stolen from the wharf. Investigation continues.

-- June 19 at 7:23 p.m. A concerned citizen in Paradise notified police that an elderly woman was seen walking up and down the highway. Police made a patrol, located the individual and returned her safely home.

-- June 19 at 10:14 p.m. A school bus driver reported that earlier in that day a driver passed the bus on a double solid line. The investigation continues.

-- June 19 at 11:33 p.m. Police received a report of shots fired in West Dalhousie. A patrol was made to assist Department of Natural Resources staff. Investigation continues.

-- June 20 at 5:57 p.m. A report of a possible violation of a court order in Middleton resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old male from Kings County. The individual is facing several charges related to violations of court orders. The individual has been remanded to custody and was scheduled to appear in court on June 25.

-- June 20 at 6:26 p.m. A Middleton homeowner reported a break and enter. Cash was stolen. The investigation continues.

-- June 21 at 00:16 a.m. Police were called to a single vehicle accident in Meadowvale. The driver sustained minor injuries after the vehicle went in the ditch. The driver has been charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license.

-- June 21 at 6:43 p.m. A complaint of threats reported in New Albany resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old male in Windsor. He is facing charges and is scheduled to appear in court in September.

-- June 21 at 9:35 p.m. A Bear River resident reported that a suspicious male was knocking on the door. The individual left without further incident.

-- June 21 at 11:17 p.m. Police received a report of a possible court order violation in Middleton. Charges are pending. The investigation continues.

-- June 22 at 5 a.m. The report of a fight in Wilmot resulted in a patrol made to curb the disturbance.

-- June 22 at 9:12 a.m. The report of a disturbance in Bridgetown resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old female. She is facing charges of assault and is scheduled for a court appearance in September.

-- June 22 at 6:03 p.m. The report of an assault in Deep brook resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man. The subject was later released and is scheduled for a September court appearance.
