Valley Kick-Off Soccer Tournament underway

The Valley Kick-Off Soccer Tournament is underway on soccer fields across eastern Kings County this weekend. Dozens of teams representing divisions from Under-10 boys and girls to senior women are participating in the tournament. Play began Friday, June 20 and concludes Sunday, June 22. Games in mid-play just after 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon hit a bit of a snag when a downpour with thunder and lightning passed over, resulting in some of those games being called and pushing the start time for several 2:30 p.m. games back to 3 p.m. The Kings West Lightning took on New Ross as part of Under-16 male “B” action at Kentville field #2 on Saturday afternoon following the downpour. The teams remained scoreless at the end of regulation time and the game was decided by a shoot-out, with New Ross emerging victorious.
