June 1 to June 7, 2008 continued SHUPE, Debra Lucille - 55, of Milton, Queens County, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Debra loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her pets and gardening. Born in Liverpool she was the daughter of the late Lawrence David and Nina Winnifred Whynot. Debra is survived by her son Ronald, at home; sisters Reta of Milton and Sharon (Earl) Mossman of Liverpool; brother Manley of Milton; great niece Chelsea Whynot, of Milton. She was predeceased by her sisters Valarie Wolfe and Maxine in infancy; great niece Brooke. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. No service by request. June 1 to June 7, 2008 continued Leonard George “Lennie” Smith – 85, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 7, 2008 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in South Berwick, Kings County, he was the son of the late Lee T. and Daisy E. (McKinley) Smith. Like many in his day, Len worked from an early age but always found time for outdoor activities and sports. As a young goaltender he was well-known for his play with the Berwick Bruins and the Kentville Wildcats, where his “contract” included a job at the Cornwallis Inn. In Kentville he began his life-long career in the Valley business community and found the love of his life, Anna (Muise) who predeceased him in 2000. With the exception of 1966 to 1976 when Len resided with his family and ran Len’s Auto Sales in Middleton, he lived in Kentville and worked primarily in the insurance business. Kentville also introduced Len to golf, which became his second life-long love. He planted trees on the original Ken-Wo nine-hole course and was on the Board which built the second nine in the sixties. A three-time club champion, Len was made Honourary Life Member at Ken-Wo for his many contributions to the club and its members. He was a friend to all, on and off the course. He was an active volunteer in the communities where he lived, including the Wolfville Rotary Club. Since February 2006, Len has resided in Northwood 2 Manor where he has been well looked after and spoke with everyone he met. Special thanks to the Northwood staff for watching over Dad; particularly Connie, Penny, Lynn and Sherma for their loving care. Surviving are daughters, Marlene (Bill) Powell, Halifax; Cathy East (Brian Tobin), Calgary; JoAnn (Ken) Rhodenizer, Halifax; sons, David (Jennifer) Smith, Halifax; Wayne (Lynn) Smith, Fall River; Paul (Terrie Logue) Smith, Halifax. Len showered his 10 grandchildren with affection, shared with them his interests and was tremendously proud of them all. He was predeceased by sisters, Marion and Helen; brothers, Ray, Bert and Roy. There was a private family burial. A reception to celebrate Len’s life was held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Family flowers only, by request. June 1 to June 7, 2008 continued Donald Lyman Morehouse, 82, of Fredericton, N.B., passed away Monday, June 2, 2008, in Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, while surrounded by his loving family. Born March 18, 1926, and raised in Digby, Don served with the Canadian Army during the Second World War before moving to New Brunswick. He worked in sales, book keeping, accounting and as manager for Fredericton’s first A&W outlet. Along with his love for music, church and a little golf, Don particularly loved family gatherings and singing his favorite songs. His quick wit and ‘punny’ sense of humor was always enjoyed by all. Don was affiliated with the Lutheran Church and was actively involved with St. Matthews in Fredericton. Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elly (Pedersen); a son, Rick (Marie) of Taymouth, N.B.; A daughter, Deborah Currie (Ralph), Fredericton; and grandchildren Kelsey and Brent who will miss their ‘Grampie’. Don is also survived by sisters, Allison Perry, Saint John; Ruth Fitt (Charlie), Enderby, B.C.; Jean Morehouse, Victoria, B.C.; brothers, David (Ellen), Tulsa, Okla.; Leigh (Mae), Miramichi, N.B.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Hilda (Peters) Morehouse. Cremation took place at Don’s request. Funeral was held in Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on June 6 with Canon Tom Smith officiating. Interment was held June 7 at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Denmark. Memorials in Don’s memory may be made to the New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation. St. Matthews Church, Fredericton, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

June 1 to June 7, 2008 continued Margaret T. Vaughan – 90, of London and formerly of Brantford, Ontario, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 in London. She was a loving daughter of the late Frederick and Helen Vaughan and a dear sister of Winnifred Vaughan of London and the late Mary Vaughan. Cremation, visitation and a memorial service took place in London. Burial took place at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2008 in St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Church Street, Reverend David Garrett officiated. June 1 to June 7, 2008 continued CAMPBELL, John Brown II. 94 Peggy’s Cove and Windsor, passed away Monday, June 2, 2008, in Arborstone Enchanced Care, Halifax. Born in Clarksville he was the son of the late Frederick and Henrietta (Wilson) Campbell. John moved to Windsor at a young age and attended school in Clarksville, Windsor and Acadia University, Wolfville. He was involved most of his life in the family business. J.B. Campbell and Sons, Curry Corner. He also served as the postmaster of Curry’s Corner for many years. He was an elder at St. Johns United Church, served on the Windsor Town Council and as a volunteer fire fighter, and was a member of the Welsford Masonic Lodge, Windsor. John moves to Peggy’s Cove on retirement but maintained his ties to Windsor. He attended St. John’s Anglican Church in Peggy’s Cove. He is survived by his sons, Jack (Judy), Peggy’s Cove; Gary, Dartmouth; Robert (Susan), Windsor, daughters, Beverly Oulton, Halifax; Janice (Terry) Woollam , St. Margarets Bay; sisters, Lillian MacMillian, Halifax; ten grandchildren; nine great –grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret (Earl) Curry, Shubenacadie. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Curry; sisters Margaret (Mrs. Frank Archibald); Ethel, Ella (Mrs. Percy Kennedy); Ruth; brother Norman (Greta); brother-in-law, Dr. Duncan MacMillan; granddaughter, Elizabeth, and son-in-law, Keith Oulton. Funeral Service was held 11a.m. Thursday, June 5, in St. John’s Anglican Church, Peggy’s Cove, Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Burial was in Maple Wood Cemetery, Windsor.
