Hockey Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting Concludes in Halifax
Hockey Nova Scotia concluded their 34th Annual General Meeting in Halifax this past weekend adopting a new voting structure to streamline the number of votes at the AGM and Special meetings. As a result HNS will now be in line with Hockey Canada and many of the other twelve Branches, which make up Hockey Canada. The highlight of the weekend was the Annual Awards Banquet attended by 240 Hockey Nova Scotia supporters, where 24 awards were handed out. Special guest speakers Chris Donnelly of the Halifax Mooseheads, Nicole Durand of the HNS Sledge Hockey Program and Scott Bower a former Junior and University hockey player stricken with cancer spoke on the important role of volunteers and the power and impact of the hockey community. Special recognition was also paid to two-time World Junior Champion Brad Marchand. Presentations will be made to fellow Nova Scotia World Junior winners Paul Boutilier, Stephen Dixon and Sidney Crosby at upcoming Hockey Nova Scotia events.
