Youth ages 9 to 14 who want to learn the basics and some of the fancier moves of skateboarding won’t have far to go this summer in Annapolis County.
Club 400, The Order of Active Living, has set up five camps starting in Annapolis Royal July 7 to 10.
The camps use the Skate Pass system to teach beginner and intermediate skateboarding skills in a safe, controlled environment. While skateboarding is the focus of the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. camps, swimming and games also play a part. On the last day of each camp, participants will be bussed to theGreenwood Skatepark to apply their new skills.
All equipment is provided, including helmets, boards, and protective equipment. Youngsters should bring their own lunch, water bottle, and swimsuit.
After the Annapolis Royal camp, sessions will be held as follows: Middleton, July 14 to 17; Bridgetown August 11 to 14; Lawrencetown, August 18 to 21; and Cornwallis Park, August 25 to 28. Cost is $35.
