DRHS takes three bronze medals at Provincials
Digby Regional High School won three bronze medals in the provincial track and field championships Friday and Saturday in Lower Sackville.
Coach Kym Roy said Kyle States won two of the medals in long and high jump competition. He jumped 6.23 metres in the long jump and cleared 1.80m in high. He also placed fourth in the triple jump with 12.7m.
Joseph Robicheau won a bronze medal in the 800m with a time of 2:06.51, just four-tenths of a second out of second place. Robicheau also came seventh in the 1500m, with a time of 4:32, and tenth in the 3000m with a time of 10:32.
DRHS qualified 14 athletes for the championships, with nine taking part at Metropolitan Field in Lower Sackville. The team placed fifth in Division 3 with 53 points.
James Brophy placed fifth in discus with a throw of 31.95m, while Ryker Titus finished just behind with a throw of 30.76m.
Colton Farris was eleventh in the 3000m with a time of 10:58, and Chris Hersey was twelfth in the 5000m with a time of 18:32.
The senior boys 4x4 relay team of Hersey, Bryon Reitzel, Ryan Amero and Armando Zaragoza finished thirteenth with a time of 3:52.
