Police and firefighters expressed surprise that a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on Hwy. 101 didn’t result in worse injuries.
The collisions involved two cars and a minivan and occurred about 4:15 p.m. about a kilometre west of the Exit 26 turnoff for Digby.

Nine people, including five children, were injured in the crash. Children involved in the crash range from four to 16 years of age.

Two of the accident victims were in serious condition, according to an official of Emergency Health Services.

Four ambulances and eight paramedics responded to the emergency call and victims were taken to Digby General Hospital.
