HORNER, Richard Wilson - 80, of Port Mouton entered into the presence of his Lord on May 18, 2008. Born on January 12, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, he was the only son of the late Stanley and Mabel (Wilson) Horner. Richard grew up in London, Ontario and was married to the former Marjorie Colp in 1953. After college and seminary training, he served almost fifty years as a pastor and teacher. During his ministry he served as a pastor of Baptist churches in New Brunswick, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Michigan, Ontario and Nova Scotia. In addition, he served on the faculty of Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit, Pa., Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C., Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, Allen Park, M.I, and London Baptist Bible College, London, Ontario. He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Colp); sons David of Bangor, ME and Philip (Eileen) of Windsor, VT; daughters Deborah (Kevin) Horner-Richardson of Cornish, NH and Esther (Douglas) Roorda of Pella, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, and sisters Ruth of London Ont. and Janet of Toronto, Ont. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. Logan David Leonard - 22, Morristown, Kings Co. passed away suddenly & tragically as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, May 18, 2008, in Windermere, Kings Co. Born in Berwick, Kings Co. he was a son of Reginald Arthur and Kim Lee Marie (Bonsant) Leonard, Millville. Logan was a loving son, brother, husband and dedicated father. He worked with his father at Valley Wood Producers and had a real passion for vehicles and operating heavy equipment. Logan will be remembered for his fun loving nature. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Erika Allicia Lynn Branning & their sons, Dylan Alexander & Desmond Tyler Leonard, Morristown; brother, Scott Michael Leonard, Kentville; sisters, Samantha Mary Elizabeth & Tessa Lee Leonard, both at home; grandparents, Al & Betty (Craig) Bonsant, Elmsdale; Reginald & Jeanette Leonard, Harmony; numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. Betty Gwendolyn Faulkner (Lawrence) - 79, Greenwood, Kings Co. passed away Monday May 19, 2008, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Visitation took place 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday May 22, in the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, from where the funeral service was held 11 a.m. Friday May 23. Albert Leroy Schofield - 69, Kentville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, NS, on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. Born in Kentville, NS, he was a son of the late Harold and Kathleen (Rouse) Schofield. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending most of his time at the camp. He cherished his time with his family, and was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and to all who knew him. Albert retired from Valley Regional Hospital where he was a security guard for 33 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna (MacKay), daughter Kimberley, Shelburne Co.; son Kenneth (Kimberely), Cambridge Station; grandchildren Caryn, Krissy, Katie, and Aaron, great grandchildren Mikey, Chelsea, Colton, Dylan, Caleb, and Skyla, and his brothers Harold “Bud” (Rose) and John (Dee). Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by son Kevin, step mother Mildred, and son-in-law Cyril. At Alberts’ request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. JENKINS, Annabelle – 72, Plymouth, passed away at home on May 20, 2008. Born in Yarmouth on October 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Hazel (Dickie) Lowe. Annabelle is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Gordon; as well as their son Dale (British Columbia); and her sister Katharine (“Kay”) Doucette, Yarmouth; grandchildren Matthew and Heidi; and great-granddaughter Haley. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by brothers Clifton and Minard (both in infancy), Roy, Havelock, and Arnold; as well as sister Dolores. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date in Mountain Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to H.M. FREDERICKS, Arthur Renford “Kirk” - 77, Windsor, Hants Co., passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late Harry and Verna (Smith) Fredericks. Kirk was employed with the former Imperial Theatre for 40 years and with the former Black Bear Tavern for 15 years. He enjoyed driving his car and taking his friends out for coffee, he was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his brothers, Douglas (Linda), Wentworth, Hants Co., and Norman (Joan), Cornwallis; also many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Gordon (Brenda). Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 22. Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 339 King St., Windsor, Rev. Father J.J. MacDonald officiated. Interment was held in St. John the Evangelist Parish Cemetery, Windsor. A reception followed in Royal Canadian Legion, Hants Co. Branch No. 009, Windsor. ROACHE, Norman “Keith”, Feb. 27, 1924- May 21, 2008, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital . Born in West Head, he was a son of the late Leonard and Ada (Townsend) Roache. Keith is survived by his wife, Dianne (Corkum) Roache and only child, Ronald (Wendy) Drayton Valley, Alberta; brothers, Herman, Liverpool; Eugene, West Head; sisters, Edith Bain, Wileville; Lorraine Townsend, Lockeport. He was predeceased by brothers, Mervin, Ernest and Ed and sister, Elaine. Keith will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Keith lived all his life in west Head, close to the sea and his family. He loved to fish in his younger years and also worked at Swim Brother’s and National Sea. He was an avid gardener and loved to tend to his sheep. Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 24, from H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Lockeport with Rev. Dr. John Hammond officiating. Cecilia “Georgia” Eaton – 95, formerly of Canard, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Mount Rose, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Beatrice (Starratt) Messinger. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon MacDonald, Summerside, Prince Edward Island; Pauline (Willy) Jacobs, Canard; a brother, Stuart (Ada), Bedford; six grandchildren, Debra Thibert, Michael and Sarah MacDonald, Richard (Laura), Cecilia and Deborah Jacobs; two great grandchildren, Codey Thibert and Ryker Jacobs; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; a son, Clarence Sutherland; a grandson, Stephen Sutherland; a great grandson, Joseph; two brothers, Morton and Joseph. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there was no visitation by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008 in the Canard United Church, Reverend Michael Gibbons officiated. Gordon Wilfred Cooper - 61, Coldbrook, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, NS. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, he is a son of Denis and Ruby (Little) Cooper. Gordon was in the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax and then moved to Vernon, British Columbia where he was employed with the Survey Department of B.C. Hydro for many years. After his retirement in 2004, he returned to reside in Nova Scotia. Besides his parents, Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Inez (MacLeod) Cooper, daughters, Cheryl (Bob), Olds, AB.; Tanya, Coldbrook; granddaughters Amy and Selina, sisters Shirley (Ray), Ottawa; Elaine (Reg), Vernon, BC; several nieces and nephews, as well as many special family members and friends. Gordon was predeceased by brother Lynn. Cremation has taken place. No visitation or funeral service at Gordon’s request. There will be an interment at a later date. The family invited friends to join them at the family home in Coldbrook for a time of reflection and memories on Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2008.
