And David Cook is the next American Idol. Can you tell what I’ve been watching lately? I do think that both Davids deserved to win. I love music and it was awesome to listen to.

With the end of American Idol also comes the fact that school is almost to an end, which will probably make my kids very happy, but they are also waiting for the warm weather. Does anyone know where it is?

A person should not have to wear sweaters and jackets this time of year. It’s really hard to plan for camping trips in a tent when it is still so cool.

Can a person get battery-operated blankets for warmth? I think it might be a good idea. Keep in mind, though, camping trips won’t be far away considering the price of fuel these days.

I heard on the news that the Prime Minister says the Canadian economy is doing well and he sees no reason for concern. What planet is he living on?

I think maybe he’s talking to the wrong people or maybe he isn’t talking at all. When companies across the country are closing, laying off employees and are concerned about surviving, obviously something is wrong.

I don’t know about you, but I think I will compose a letter to our wonderful Prime Minister and ask him a few questions. With my work, I speak to a lot of people across Canada and the United States and I haven’t spoke to anyone that’s having an easy time in the current economy. But I guess maybe the PM is different – we do pay his fuel expenses for him, after all.

Well, enough ranting; time to move onto some other news. Darts finished for another season a few weeks ago. Deanna Schofield was nice enough to share the results with me. Gary Croft and Deanna Schofield won trophies for high-outs for the season. Peter Mosher won the Bill Cousins Memorial trophy this season while Peter and Scott Cook tied for the high score for the men and Joan Kosnaskie won the high score for the ladies. The regular play winning team was Scott Cook, Doug Maxwell and Gillian Harris and the playoff winning team was Gary Croft, Manford Harris and Barb Davison. Congratulations to all the winners.

I’m told the pancake breakfast took place a few weeks ago. I’m sorry for not letting everyone know the date, but I missed it too. I hope next year will be better.

The card parties at the Black River Community Hall are a great success. There have been large turnouts so far, growing each week. Ken Long won Gents’ first while Gary Farris won Gents’ second. Ladies’ first went to Deanna Schofield and Clara Spinney won ladies second.

Gary Farris also won the 50/50 prize while Helen Hutt claimed the door prize. Reg Pick won the low for the men and Geraldine Cross won the low for the women. The prizes were donated by Zane and Gladys Long.

Happy anniversary to Blair and Debbie Schofield, who are celebrating May 28. Happy birthday to Camille Sanford, who is celebrating her birthday June 1. Best wishes is also sent out to everyone else celebrating a special day this week. Have a great time.

I think that’s it for this week. I think I better go to sleep now. My cat is sitting here purring to me and Dylan is having some growing pains in his leg again. He’s asleep for now. Have a great week everyone.
