May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued LANTZ (McLellan), Margaret Ellen - 85, Windsor, formerly of Bramber, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Haliburton Place, Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Bramber, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Minnie (Lake) McLellan. Margaret enjoyed spending time tending the fish weir with Archie in their younger years. In her later years, she enjoyed being a foster parent to many children as well as sewing. She is survived by son, David (Hazel), Bramber; daughter, Frances (Raymond) Hawboldt, Bramber; granddaughters, Angela (Ernie) Aucoin and Terri (Matthew) Herbert; great-granddaughters, Allison, Kyla, and Renee; sister, Betty Lou Brown, Bramber; also many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Archibald “Archie” Lantz, sisters, Rita McLellan, Alice Brogan, Agnes McLellan; brothers, Fredrick and Wilfred. Arrangements had been entrusted to Lohnes Funeral Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 12. Funeral service was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Kempt United Baptist Church, Summerville. Interment was held in Bramber Cemetery, followed by a reception in the church hall. May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued CUMMINGS, Sheila Anne - Born March 15, 1954, died in Halifax on May 10, 2008. Daughter of Dorothy and the late Barrie Cummings, Sheila leaves behind her partner, Kathy Gunn; mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Larry Rice; twin sister, Sandra Doucette; brother Brian (Debby) Cummings; sisters, Linda (Rodney) McCaul, Susan Cummings (Natalie Sabean); sister-in-law, Donna Cummings, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Barrie, brother Randy, and nephew Nicholas. Sheila will be missed by many true friends who enjoyed her love for life. As a gifted craftsperson, she has left us all with many treasured works of love. Some of Sheila's happiest times were spent with her cat Sam and in the Valley with her sweeties Cassie and B.J. Sheila's professional life was aimed at bringing happiness to others. Her infectious smile brought equal smiles to the faces of her dental patients. Sheila has graciously donated her body to the Dalhousie University Department of Anatomy. Donations in honour of her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 17th, in Kaulbach Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal.
May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued FEENER, Betty Pauline – 75, of Bridgetown and formerly of Middleton, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in New Albany she was a daughter of the late Herman and DeWillow (Mailman) Sheridan. In early years Betty was employed on various farms in the community and later worked alongside her sister, Winnie at the Capitol Theatre in Middleton. Betty will be remembered by her family and friends as a very kind and generous lady. She is survived by daughter Barb (David) Durling, Lawrencetown, Annapolis County and son Stephen (Janice) Feener, Dartmouth. Grandchildren Kris (Mike) O’Neil, Lawrencetown, Greg (Christa) Durling, Charlottetown, PEI as well as great grandchildren Brandon, Emily, Allie and Taylor. She was the last surviving member of her family and was predeceased by her husband Carl; sister Winnie and brothers Freeman and Howard. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, Rev. Dr. Bill MacDougall officiated. May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued Darrell Trent Campbell – It is with great sadness that Carol E. Campbell announces the passing of her husband, Darrell T. Campbell on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the age of 45 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 23 years, and also leaves to cherish his memory daughter, Jacquelyn A. Campbell of Medicine Hat; his mother, Ramona Campbell of Kentville, Nova Scotia; three brothers, Terry Campbell of Edmonton, Alberta, Kevin Campbell of Kentville, Lyle Campbell of Calgary, Alberta; brother-in-law, Jim Anderson of Calgary; and sister-in-law, Lynn Anderson of Calgary; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Darrell was predeceased by his father, Hugh Campbell; his father-in-law, H.B. Anderson; mother-in-law, Elaine Anderson; and his loving dogs, Jasper and Banff. Darrell was born on September 30, 1962 in Fredericton, New Brunswick and grew up in Kentville, Nova Scotia. He graduated from Cornwallis High and went on to graduate from the Radio College of Canada in Toronto. Darrell served 20 years in the military and upon retirement began a new adventure in Medicine Hat with CUBIC Field Services. The Funeral Service was held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, on Monday, May 12, 2008, at 2 p.m., The Reverend Gene Packwood officiated. May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued Jane “Jean” Victoria Harvie, age 79, formerly of Hantsport. It was with heavy hearts that the children had to announce the passing of their mother, Jean Harvie Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, after a long battle with emphysema. Jean was born May 24, 1928, in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, and she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jane (Fraser) Fairn of Annapolis Royal. Jean was a devoted mother having raised six children on her own. She really never got over the death of her oldest child, Cheryl; who passed away February 8, 2008. Her children were the center of her life and she was so proud of each and every one of them. Jean was a patient, kind, and gentle spirit. She always put others first before herself. The family would like to thank the staff at Dykeland Lodge for taking such good care of their Mom, she truly enjoyed living there for the past year. She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her children, Lloma (Vernie) Myles, Hantsport; George (Karen) Harvie, Windsor; Joleen (Brian) Lunn, Three Mile Plains; Jana (Darrell) Church, Falmouth and Heather (Frank) Voegeli, Mt. Denson. She loved her grandchildren, Lori Whynot, Dartmouth; Stephen Hiltz, Hortonville; Dorothy Myles, Cambridge; Raye Myles, Dartmouth; Michelle Walker, Port Williams; Sara Harvie, New Minas; Geoffrey Lunn, Coldbrook; Annette Ledson, Falmouth; D.J. Jean was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl Hiltz; brothers, William and Murdo Fairn; and sisters, Barbara Meisner and Mary Matkin. Cremation has taken place. May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued RASBERRY, Doris Sophia (Taylor) Rasberry, passed away peacefully in Toronto on Monday, May 5, 2008. She was born in Little Harbour, Shelburne Co., to the late Gordon and Robena Taylor. She received her nursing degree in Montreal and enlisted in the Army in 1942 as a Lt. in Nursing Corp. She served in France and Germany. When she returned to Canada she and her husband resided in Montreal where she worked at the Queen Mary Veterans Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; sister, Berniece Hnidan; brothers, Lawrence and Mitchell. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie West, Truro, N.S.; son Bill (Evelyn); daughter Gail (Alec); six grandchildren; sister-in-law Marjorie Taylor and many nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at Collins McGillivary White Funeral Home, Pointe Claire, PQ. Burial followed in the Field of Honor.
May 4 to May 10, 2008 continued SMITH (Bower) (Hamilton), Mildred Hilda Adeline, Ingomar, Shelburne Co., passed away at home on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Born in Carleton Village on August 17, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Egbert and Ethel (Perry) Hamilton. Mildred was the last surviving member of her family. She was a postmistress for 10 years, a member of Stoney Island Baptist Church, Women’s Bible Study, Leisure Hour Club and a lifetime member of the Red Cross. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her friends. Mildred was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by sons, Charles (Leona) Bower, Barrington Passage, David Bower, Kingston; daughter, Lillian (Ronald) Swaine, Ingomar; grandchildren, Sally Swaine, Mikael Swaine, Steven Swaine, Tom Swaine, Melanie Bower, Derek Bower, Murray Nickerson, John Guye, Travis Guye, Jodi Bower and numerous great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, David Bower; second husband, Melvin Smith; two sisters and six brothers. The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 in H. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, Rev. Robie Atkinson officiating. Internment was in Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island.
