LeBLANC, Elizabeth Anne – 66, Ellis Road, Yarmouth, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2008 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 14, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary (Goodwin) Fraser. Anne was a homemaker, also being an avid gardener, bird watcher and a nature-enthusiast. Surviving are her children, Tessa (Kenny) Maillet, Bob Fraser (Coleen Moulaison), both of Yarmouth; Angel (Warren) Gibbons, Plymouth; Nicole (Dwayne) Gaudet, Glenwood; Mary Jane LeBlanc (Keith Walton), Brookfield, Queen’s Co.; grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Andre, Logan the girl, Logan the boy, Kayla, Kourtney and Damien; sisters, Sharon Kerfont, Truro; Charlotte (Greg) Mailman, Middleton; a brother, David (Bonnie) Fraser, Chegoggin. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Warren LeBlanc. Cremation took place under the direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth, and there was no visitation by request. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Tusket River Environmental Protection Agency. DOUCETTE, Alden Mark – 58, Argyle Street, Yarmouth, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born September 20, 1949 in Argyle, he was a son of the late James “Sonny” and Elisabeth “Betty” (Porter) Doucette. Alden worked at Dominion Textiles, as well as with IMO Foods, both in Yarmouth, and with Schooner Fisheries in Wedgeport. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the United States Army. He enjoyed bowling. Surviving are his wife, Kathy (Middleton) Doucette, as well as their children, Katrina Doucette and Monte Doucette, both at home, and Sean Doucette, United States; a brother, Dexter (Gayle) Doucette, Yarmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Alden Mark, in infancy, as well as by a brother, Mitchell Doucette. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and again from 7 to 9 on Monday, followed by the funeral at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 6, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Rev. Bill Newell officiated, assisted by Rev. Alden Fells. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or to the Canadian Cancer Society. ACKER, Mabel Angeline, 86, Roseway Manor, Sandy Point, formerly of Shelburne, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2008 in Roseway Manor with her son Bill by her side. Born in Jordan Falls, she was a daughter of the late John and Angeline (Pierce) Brown. Mabel was a loving mother and grandmother and was very devoted to her family. She was a Life Member of the Lions Club, Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #63, as well as a past officer. She was an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed bowling and playing darts. She was very supportive of community organizations and did a lot of volunteer work. She is survived by sons, William (Joanne), Sandy Point, Gary (Diane), Halifax, Wendell, Shelburne, Angecley (Maureen), Trenton, Ontario; daughters, Beverley (Matt) Bergs, Chilliwack, B.C., Nancy Boucher (Gary), Ottawa, Ont., Lillian Acker, Montreal, Catherine (Bill) Rissell, Suffolk, Virginia, Virginia (Art) O’Brien, Moncton, N.B., Marjorie Acker, Moncton, N.B.; brother, John (Georgie) Brown, Jordan Falls; sister, Margaret (Freeman) Titus, Digby; 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fulton; son, John; daughters, Ada and a daughter in infancy; brother, Harry Brown; sister, Myrtle Mullins. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 7, in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne, with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery. James “J.D” Stirling – 49 year resident of Morro Bay, California passed away Friday, May 2, 2008. Born in Wolfville, the eldest son of the late A.R. Stirling and Jennie (Tamplin) Stirling, J.D. was a retired Millwright of 50 years. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in England and Germany during Word War II. J.D. is survived by his son, Jim (Joan) of Wallbrook; Lynne (Bryon) Evans of Chico, California; Patricia of San Luis Obispo, California; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Sandy (Avard) Bishop of Greenwich; Maryann (Clinton) Cogswell of Port Williams; brothers Rob (MaryGlenn) of New Minas, David (Barbara) of Canard, and Ralph (Kay) of Wallbrook. He was predeceased by his wife, of 56 years on March 5, 2008, Freda Stirling; and brother, Harold of Pittsburgh. Funeral service and internment will take place on June 21 at the Stirling Family Cemetery, Wallbrook, Nova Scotia. Reception to be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Melanson Community Hall. J.D. was a caring, devoted husband, father and friend.
