The regular monthly meeting of the Msg. W.E. Young Assembly of the Knights of Columbus will be held at the K of C hall, Collins Street, Yarmouth, May 20 at 7 p.m.

The Ostomy Support Group’s Tuesday, May 20, meeting at the Yarmouth Hospital in the Pink Conference Room at 7:30 p.m. is opened to ostomates, their families and the general public. Guest speaker : Réal Boudreau, lawyer, from d'Entremont & Boudreau Law Firm, Living Will and Power of Attorney.

Planter workshop

A planter workshop will be held Thursday, May 22, 6:30 p.m. at the public works building, 227 Pleasant St. Register at the Department of Leisure Services, 403 Main St., 8:30- to 4:30 Monday to Friday. Cost $10 a person. Limit of 50 participants. Info: Loren Cushing 902-742-3171.

There will be a turkey supper at the Kemptville fire hall on May 24 from 4:30 until 6.

Tea and sale

The Yarmouth Art Society will hold its annual tea and sale from 1 to 4 p.m. at Th'YARC on Parade Street on Saturday, May 24. Tickets for the tea and the art lottery are available at Th'YARC box office.

The show of new work will continue at Th'YARC gallery until May 31. For more information call Th'YARC at 902-742-8150.

Spring fling

There will be a spring fling at Plymouth School Saturday, May 24, 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. featuring kids games, cake walk, face painting, bake sale, horseback rides and a BBQ.

Chowder

May 24

A seafood chowder fundraiser will be held in the Glenwood Hall (Exit 32A off Highway 103) on Saturday, May 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. Homemade chowder, rolls, biscuits and pies, will be served. $10 per meal. Sponsored by the committee for the Argyle Historic Church Building. Call 902-643-2218 for more information.

Yard sale

On May 24 and 31 there will be a yard sale-from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Antique Auto Club, RR #1, Wellington---Youth furniture, dishes, toys , knick knacks, table of free items. Inside if raining.

Flea market/bake sale

The Islands and District Fire Department’s annual flea market and bake sale will be held at the Surette’s Island fire hall from 1-3 p.m. on May 25. Sponsored by the ladies auxiliary.

Rappie pie sale

May 25

There will be a rappie pie sale at the Melbourne Community Hall May 25 from 12:30-3 p.m. proceeds to help make a trail to Roche a St. Pierre. Sponsored by the Association of Clairmont, Deviller, Fitzgerald, Harris, Jacquard



Lobster supper

There will be a Cursillo lobster supper fundraiser May 25 at the Yarmouth Knights of Columbus hall on Collins Street, Yarmouth. Punch served 4- 4:30, skits, 4:30 to 5:30, supper 5:30: creamed lobster, veggies and homemade dessert, (rappie pie available.) For tickets contact Midge Rodgerson 902-742-4475 before May 22.

Fundraising walk

Rappie pie supper

There will be a rappie pie supper at Temple Baptist Church 5 Bond St., May 31 from 4 until 6 p.m. Deliveries available in town to seniors by calling the church office at 902-742-1867. Take-outs available and donations at the door.

Fundraiser

June 1

There will be a fundraiser for St. Gabriel’s Church repairs at the Comeau’s Hill hall on Sunday, June 1, at 12 p.m. Ham and scallop potatoes or ham and baked beans, roll dessert and tea or coffee. $6. There will also be a bake sale, Chinese auction 50/50 draw and tickets sold on lobsters.

Trails day

June 7 is International Trails Day and representatives of the Yarmouth County Trail Development Association will be on the trail at the Prospect Street crossing, Tusket and Highway 340 in south Ohio to say hello, thank you for support and to answer questions.

Yard sale

Veterans’ reunion planned

There will be a reunion of Korean War veterans, peacekeepers and veterans of all foreign wars on July 25, 26 and 27 at the Yarmouth branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. For further information telephone 902-742-9679.

Volunteers are needed to fill several positions on the Yarmouth Red Cross Emergency response Team in Yarmouth. Focus on providing relief assistance to people in the community who have experienced a personal disaster or responding to a medium or large scale disaster. Training provided. Support group

Tuesdays

The Baby and Me peer support group meets Tuesday mornings, 10 - 11:30, at Yarmouth Superstore’s community room. All infants with their parents and/or grandparents, as well as pregnant women, are welcome. Peer breastfeeding support is also available. Further info at 902-742-7141.

Thursdays

Bridge and other card games are held every Thursday afternoon at the South Ohio Community Centre from 1-4 p.m. Light refreshments served. Admission $2.

Drop-in centre

Wednesdays

The Open Door Drop In Centre is held every Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church from 1:30 pm-3:30 p.m. Conversation, games, coffee and tea.
