Wind farm being announced today
Scotian WindFields and SkyPower are announcing a major wind energy project this morning for the Digby area.
The announcement will be made at 11 a.m. in Rossway Community Centre by Scotian WindFields president and chief executive officer Barry Zwicker, SkyPower CEO Kerry Adler, and Ralph Tedesco, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Power.

A technical briefing will precede the formal announcement.

The announcement comes more than a year after NSP issued a request for proposals to produce 130 megawatts of renewable power. Last November the utility increased that amount to 240 megawatts of new wind generated electricity that would require about $500 million in capital, according to the utility.

NSP is hoping the contracts with the private companies will increase the amount of electricity produced by ‘green technology’ to 20 per cent of total output by 2013.
