Bay Ferries head addressing tourism body
Bay Ferries president Mark MacDonald will be guest speaker Thursday, May 15, at the Destination Southwest Nova awards banquet at Cornwallis Park.
The banquet at 7 p.m. in the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre is part of a two-day conference and annual general meeting for the Destination Southwest Nova Tourism Association.

Madonna Spinazola, general manager of Destination Southwest Nova, said the association particularly welcomes MacDonald as speaker.

“His perspective on tourism and Bay Ferries contribution to our economy are of vital interest to our local tourism operators,” she said.

The conference, which runs May 15-16, opens at 2 p.m. with a marketing update. Destination Southwest Nova handles much of the marketing for the Fundy Shore and Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth and Acadian Shores, and the South Shore.

“This conference also allows us to improve upon and learn new methods to grow tourism in our expanded region,” said Spinazola.

Key topics to be discussed during the workshop sessions include: geocaching, marketing principles, staff recruitment and retention, tourism trends, and an information and feedback session on the Tourism Repeal Act.

A municipal tourism summit is scheduled for May 15 at 4 p.m. The annual general meeting will be held Friday at 2 p.m.
