Acadian Lines wants to hike fares 6.2 per cent
Acadian Intercity Coaches LP has requested an average one-way fare increase of 6.2 per cent increase throughout its 52 zones.
In this area, the increase would see the one-way fare between Digby and Halifax increase from $46.33 to $49.20. Both figures include tax.

The company has also applied to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board to operate public passenger vehicles with approved trailers to carry freight, parcel express and luggage, for general route service.

Acadian Lines operates in New Brunswick as well so the utility boards of both provinces will hold a joint hearing June 6 in Amherst. People who want to present evidence or cross-examine witnesses must file notice with the board by May 30.

Members of the public not able to attend the Amherst hearing can take part in a telephone conference call. Names and phone numbers must be provided to the board by May 30.
