Motivational speaker Pam Mood says the number one question she’s asked is “how do I know if this is what I’m supposed to do?”
She answers that and many others in her new book ‘Water-Walkin’ in Heels’, which will be launched Friday, May 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church.

“If you’re still long enough, you can call it your gut feeling, you can call it whatever you want, but your heart is going to tell you what to do,” Mood explains.

Following her heart inspired Mood to expand on her 18-year job as a civilian member doing drug awareness and anti-bullying talks.

She founded Mood Coaching and Consulting and is now in huge demand across the country as a professional speaker and facilitator. Some of her clients include Curves, Department of Veteran’s Affairs, the Municipality of Yarmouth, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, South Shore Opportunities, and the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union.

Mood says she called her book Water-Walkin’ in Heels because it encourages the pursuit of what each person may have thought impossible. The red heels on the cover represent the feminine aspect.

“We can’t just walk out of the house and say, see you later, I’m going to go walk on water and do my thing. The heels to me say we have so much more to balance. To go after our dreams we just have to balance more,” said Mood.

Even failure need not be the end of the world, she reassures.

“When we do something and we don’t make it to where we thought we were going, that’s okay, maybe it wasn’t meant for us at that time,” she said.

Mood pulls no punches in her book and delivers advice plainly and frankly. She believes more people should ask what they can change about themselves instead of pointing and blaming other people for their problems.

“We’re like porcupines. We rub each other the wrong way. Sometimes what hurts the most causes us to lash out. Stop blaming other people,” she said.

Five hundred copies of the interactive book, which is self-published, have been printed. Mood will be selling them at the book launch and distributing them at future speaking engagements.
