Community events
The Events column is for non-profit listings of events in Digby County. Items may run twice for free before the event’s date. Items can be emailed to info@digbycourier.ca , faxed to 245-6136 or mailed to the Digby Courier at 124 Water St., P.O. Box 670, Digby, N.S., B0V 1A0, attention: Events. Deadline for submitting listings for the upcoming issue is Thursday at 4 p.m.
May 3 - Battle of the Atlantic dinner, Royal Canadian Legion, Clementsport. Tickets in advance only. Phone Doug at 638-8700 or Karl at 638-3351.

May 3 - Spring tea & sale, Parish Hall, Deep Brook, from 2–3:30 p.m. Bake, book, craft and white elephant tables. Proceeds for Anglican Church Women, Parish of Clements.

May 3 - Firefighters’ breakfast, Bear River Fire Hall, from 7–10 a.m. Proceeds for upkeep of hall.

May 5 - DGH Auxiliary annual meeting, Digby General Hospital boardroom, at 10 a.m. New members welcome.

May 7 - SEA community forum soliciting views on recommendations in Strategic Environmental Assessment regarding tidal power. From 7-9 p.m. in Cornwallis Room, Annapolis Basin Conference Centre.

May 10 - Country breakfast, Barton Baptist Church, from 7:30 – 10 a.m.

May 10 - Film: ‘The Power of Community’. Oakdene Centre, Bear River, at 7:30 p.m., sponsored by Bear Rhythm.

May 10 - Yard & craft fair, Digby Area Arena, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

May 11 - Mother’s Day supper, Deep Brook Parish Hall, at 4 p.m. Scalloped potatoes, baked beans & ham, apple pie. Sponsored by Bear River East Baptist Church. For take-out, call 638-3564 or 532-5430 before May 11.

May 12 - Holocaust presentation in Digby Regional High School community theatre at 7 p.m., with guest speaker Philip Riteman.

May 12 – 17 - Admiral Digby Museum will close for the week.

May 13 – Summer softball at Don Brown Memorial Field at 6:30 p.m., for men 50 and over interested in playing this summer.

May 16 - Farmers & traders market grand re-opening in Bear River from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tables available. Call Glendean at 467-3695 or Velda at 467-3772.

May 17 - Indoor yard sale, Masonic Hall, corner of King and Mount streets, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by Order of the Eastern Star.

May 17 - Flea market, Bear River Fire Hall, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tables available for rent, call 467-3696.

May 24 - Live Smart Diabetes Expo, Cornwallis Park. If you need a ride or can share your ride with someone, call Judy Swift at 532-3870.

May 24 - Yard, craft & bake sale, Oakdene Centre, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., hosted by 1st Bear River Brownies and Bear River Ditchpigs (Relay for Life team). For information, call Heather Charleton at 467-3269 or Brenda Potter at 467-0446.

May 24 – Benefit in Royal Canadian Legion, Digby, from noon to 4 p.m. Rappie pie, fish chowder, door prizes. Auction, live entertainment. Aaron Charlton-Hazel, 17, has leukemia. Benefit is to aid medical, transportation costs.

May 24 – Coffeehouse, Oakdene Centre, Bear River, at 7:30 p.m. featuring Jess Clemons and Don Brownrigg. Sponsored by Bear Rhythm.

To June 11 - Exhibit in Scallop Palette Gallery, Digby General Hospital, with new works by local artists featuring sketches and colourful paintings by Rolande Comeau.

TUESDAYS - Baby and me offers morning fun for babies and caregivers from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Isaiah W. Wilson Memorial Library, Digby. Program presented by Family Resource Centre and Public Health. Phone 245-2163 for more information.

TUESDAYS - DEFGA bingo in clubhouse, North Range, at 7 p.m.

MONTHLY - Chronic pain support group meets the last Monday of every month at Digby Superstore from 7-9 p.m.

THURSDAYS - 603rd Weymouth Royal Canadian Army Cadets meets in Weymouth Consolidated School from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Looking for new members aged 12-18. For information, contact Lieut. Robert Sweeney at (902) 837-7419 after 6 p.m.

SUNDAYS - Hill Grove United Baptist Church Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. (preschoolers to adults) and church service at 11 a.m.

Last Tuesday of month - MS support group meetings in Digby General Hospital cafeteria from 6:30–8 p.m. For information, call John Bent at 245-6707.

Anyone interested in attending anxiety management group, contact the Digby Mental Health Centre at 245-4709 and ask for Julie Wong or Stephany Morine.

hello,
i was just wondering if there was any way i could get a list of events/festivals that will be going on in digby for the summer,
ive looked all over the web and no one seems to have a list for the summer,
im mainly looking for things like the warf rat rally or other fun festival type things.
im from digby but live in halifax and love comming down there for the summer.
so i was hoping there would be lots for me to do down there this summer.
