Time in custody
The court has sentenced Kevin Maurice Pigeon, 33, Kentville, to a period in custody for failing without reasonable excuse to comply with a demand made to him by a peace officer to provide a sample of his breath for analysis; operating a motor vehicle while disqualified; and for taking a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner with intent to drive it.
Pigeon entered guilty pleas to the charges April 28, 2008. He was sentenced to six months in federal custody consecutive to any time presently being served for refusing to provide a peace officer with a sample of his breath. The court imposed a five-year, Canada-wide driving prohibition against Pigeon.
He was sentenced to one month in custody consecutive to any time presently being served for operating a motor vehicle while disqualified from doing so. He was sentenced to one month in custody consecutive to any other time presently being served for taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner with the intent to drive it for a total of eight months in custody consecutive to any other time presently being served on the three charges.
Pigeon committed the offences in Kentville Feb. 24, 2008.
Breathalyzer, joyriding offences
The court has fined Nicholas Joseph Ansems, 25, Canning, for operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded the legal limit; the included offence of joyriding; and for failing without lawful excuse to attend court as directed.
Ansems entered guilty pleas to the charges April 28, 2008. He was fined a total of $1,035 for operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded the legal limit. He has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay the fine or spend 15 days in custody on willful default. The court has imposed a one-year, Canada-wide driving prohibition against him.
Ansems was fined $230 for the included offence of joyriding. He has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay the fine or spend three days in custody on willful default.
Ansems was fined $115 for unlawfully failing to attend court having been named in an appearance notice. He has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay the fine or spend a day in custody on willful default.
Ansems committed the offence of operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, the legal limit, in Wilmot Valley, PEI July 20, 2003. He gave breathalyzer readings of 170 and 170. The included offence of joyriding was committed in Pleasant Valley, PEI July 20, 2003.
The offence of unlawfully failing to attend court as directed was committed in Summerside, PEI Sept. 4, 2003.
Breathalyzer, probation offences
The court has fined Karen Michelle Ansems, 48, Kingston, for operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in her blood exceeded the legal limit and for failing, without reasonable excuse, to comply with a condition of a probation order by which she was bound to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Ansems was fined $115 for failing to comply with a condition of a probation order by which she was bound. She has been given until Nov. 24, 2008 to pay the fine or spend a day in custody on willful default.
Ansems committed the offences in Greenwood Feb. 10, 2008 when she was found to be operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in her blood exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, the legal limit. Ansems gave breathalyzer readings of 150 and 150.
Refused breathalyzer
The court has fined Paul Douglas MacLean, 38, New Minas, for failing without reasonable excuse to comply with a demand made to him by a peace officer to provide a sample of his breath, as in the opinion of the peace officer was necessary to enable a proper analysis to be made by means of an approved screening device.
MacLean entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. He was fined $1,035 and has been given until Dec. 21, 2009 to pay or spend 15 days in custody on willful default. The court has imposed a one-year, Canada-wide driving prohibition order against MacLean.
MacLean committed the offence in Greenwood Feb. 10, 2008.
Breathalyzer offence
The court has fined Nicholas Alexander Keddy Hill, 29, Canning, for operating a vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded the legal limit.
Hill entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. He was fined $977.50 and has been given until Dec. 21, 2009 to pay or spend 15 days in custody on willful default. The court imposed a one-year, Canada-wide driving prohibition against him.
Hill committed the offence Feb. 22, 2008 in Kentville when he was found to be operating a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, the legal limit. Hill gave breathalyzer readings of 160 and 150.
Exceeded legal limit
The court has fined Rodger Leo Ward, 24, Kingston, for having care or control of a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded the legal limit.
Ward entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. He was fined $977.50 and has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay or spend 15 days in custody on willful default. The court imposed a one-year, Canada-wide driving prohibition against Ward.
Ward committed the offence in Coldbrook March 23, 2008 when he was found to have care or control of a motor vehicle having consumed alcohol in such a quantity that the concentration in his blood exceeded 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, the legal limit. Ward gave breathalyzer readings of 130 and 120.
Damaged police property
The court has handed Meghann Dawn Burhoe, 43, Kentville, a conditional discharge with a term of probation for willfully damaging the property of the Kingston RCMP to a value not exceeding $5,000. The court has ordered her to pay restitution as well.
Burhoe entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. The court handed her a conditional discharge with six months’ probation. She has been ordered to pay $318.66 in restitution to the New Minas RCMP through the court by May 12, 2008.
Burhoe committed the offence in Kingston March 8, 2008 when she willfully damaged the property of the Kingston RCMP to a value not exceeding $5,000.
Drove while disqualified
The court has fined Brandon Christopher Conrad, 22, Coldbrook, for operating a motor vehicle while disqualified from doing so by a court order.
Conrad entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. He was fined $575 and has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay or spend eight days in custody on willful default. The court imposed a six-month, Canada-wide driving prohibition order against Conrad.
He committed the offence in Kentville Feb. 23, 2008.
Stole bottle of liquor
The court has fined Dwayne Andrew Mailman, 35, Highway 341, Kings County, for stealing a bottle of liquor, the property of Value Foods, of a value not exceeding $5,000.
Mailman entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. He was fined $230 and has been given until Nov. 24, 2008 to pay or spend three days in custody on willful default.
Mailman committed the offence in Canning Feb. 28, 2008.

The court has fined Kristin Millett, 20, Centreville, for driving at a speed in excess of the posted speed limit.
Millett entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. Judge Claudine MacDonald did not grant an application for remission of penalty. Millett was fined $279.50 and has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay with no default.
Millett committed the offence east of Exit 12 on Highway 101, New Minas Feb. 21, 2008 when she drove at a speed in excess of the posted limit by between 16 and 30 km/h inclusive.

Corkum entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. Judge Claudine MacDonald did not grant an application for remission of penalty. He was fined $457 and has been given until Dec. 29, 2008 to pay with no default.
Corkum committed the offence in Wolfville March 15, 2008.

MacInnis entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. Judge Claudine MacDonald did not grant an application for remission of penalty. MacInnis was fined $457 and has been given until Nov. 24, 2008 to pay with no default.
MacInnis committed the offence in Wolfville March 15, 2008.

The court has fined Brett Allen Dentremont, 21, Wolfville, for illegally possessing alcohol.
Dentremont entered a guilty plea to the charge April 28, 2008. Judge Claudine MacDonald granted an application for remission of penalty. He was fined $452 with $100 being remitted by the court. He was ordered to pay the fine April 28, 2008 with no default.
Dentremont committed the offence in Wolfville March 27, 2008.
