VON plans walk-a-thon and duck race

The local VON is hoping participants will take part in their walk-a-thon set for May 17.

Registration for the event is 9 a.m. with the 5 km walk to begin at 10.

Participants can register on Water Street, across from the Snack Place.

Those who raise $25 receive a VON t-shirt and a duck to put in the VON duck race.



There will be entertainment and refreshments while waiting for the duck drop and race.

Toy ducks will be dropped at approximately noon, into the river near the Milton damn which runs from Lake Milo at the Milton corner down in the Yarmouth Harbour. Duck tickets are $10 each or three for $25 and available at the VON office, 55 Starrs Rd., Runners Attic, Leisure Services and Pubnico Pharmasave.



Duck race grand prizes:

1st prize: Round trip for two adults (with car) on the Cat ferry

2nd prize: Landscaping package

3rd prize: Coastal excursion package (including digital camera!)

4th prize: VON footcare package
